Getting around Ashenfall used to mean paying for the privilege. Lodestone teleports drain Law Runes, and you cannot even craft those until your Runecrafting hits level 50. The 1.0 release adds a way around that problem for anyone who mainly wants to dump loot back at base: the Home Teleport spell.
Quick answer: Open your spellbook, rotate to Spellbook 3, and cast Home Teleport to return to your claimed bed. It has a 900-second (15-minute) cooldown and requires no runes.
What the Home Teleport spell does
Home Teleport is a Runecrafting unlock that sends your character straight back to the bed you have claimed. Its in-game description reads: “Teleport safely back to your bed and enjoy a peaceful, undisturbed night’s sleep.” In practice it is a free trip home, which makes it ideal for emptying a full inventory into your storage without spending scarce travel materials.
The two constraints that matter are simple. The spell’s requirement panel shows a cost of zero runes, and it runs on a 900-second (15-minute) cooldown. Once you cast it, you cannot immediately cast it again, so treat it as a reset button for base runs rather than an all-purpose teleport.
Home Teleport only works with a bed you have claimed, so set your bed at the base you actually want to return to before you rely on it.

You will know it worked when your character arrives beside your claimed bed at your base. From there you can run up to your storage, deposit everything you gathered, and restock before heading back out.

Home Teleport vs Lodestone travel and Law Runes
Lodestones remain the network for jumping between fixed points across the world, but every activation costs Law Runes. That becomes a real drain early and mid-game because you cannot craft Law Runes until Runecrafting reaches level 50. Until then, each Lodestone hop eats into a resource you have very little of.

Home Teleport does not replace that network, but it takes pressure off it. Because the trip home is free, you can save your Law Runes for the Lodestone jumps you genuinely need and lean on Home Teleport for the routine loop of gather, return, deposit, repeat. The trade-off is the cooldown, so the two systems work together rather than one canceling out the other.
Kebbit burrows as a second fast-travel option
There is a third way to cut down travel time that costs no runes at all. Kebbit burrows are scattered across the map and act as shortcuts between regions once you have the Agility to use them. They open up as your Agility skill climbs, so the more you train it, the more of these routes become available.
Burrow icons appear on the world map alongside your Lodestones, across regions such as Temple Woods, Whispering Swamp, and Bramblemead Valley. Checking the map before a trip lets you chain burrows into a path instead of paying for a Lodestone hop, which pairs well with keeping Home Teleport in reserve for the run back to base.

Together, these three options give you a full travel toolkit in 1.0: Lodestones for paid point-to-point jumps, Kebbit burrows for free overland shortcuts, and Home Teleport for a no-cost trip back to your bed whenever your inventory fills up.
