Plainstrider Menace is an early Horde quest in the Barrens that asks you to collect 7 Plainstrider Beaks from the flightless birds roaming the plains. It sounds simple, but the beaks only drop from some of the birds you kill, so the real work is knowing where to hunt and how many to expect to bring down.

Where to pick up Plainstrider Menace
The quest giver depends on which version of the game you are playing. In current retail World of Warcraft, Plainstrider Menace is offered and turned in by Halga Bloodeye in the Northern Barrens. In the Classic version, you get it from Sergra Darkthorn at The Crossroads, where it follows the earlier Sergra Darkthorn quest and leads into The Zhevra. Both are Horde-only quests set entirely in the Barrens.
Once you accept it, the objective appears in your quest log as 0/7 Plainstrider Beak. Open your map to confirm the quest was picked up before you head out.
Best place to farm Plainstrider Beaks
Plainstriders spawn all over the open Barrens, but the cleanest spot is just south of The Crossroads along the Gold Road, then drifting southeast toward the hills near Wailing Caverns. Fewer players compete for kills out there, and you stay clear of the busier roads. Another dependable pocket sits northeast of The Crossroads around Thorn Hill, roughly the 54, 23 coordinate area.
Plainstriders are neutral birds, so they will not attack until you engage them. They share spawn tables with Zhevra Runners, which appear more often, so you will pass plenty of zebras while hunting for birds. The taller Greater Plainstriders count too and are common toward Thorn Hill.
Kolkar Wranglers patrol the nearby camps and roads and will attack on sight. Sunscale Lashtails also roam with wide patrol paths. Pull the birds away from these hostiles, or clear the patrol first, so you are not fighting an add mid-kill.
How to collect all 7 beaks
Do not chase respawns in one tight loop if beaks are not dropping. Spread your route across the south and northeast pockets so you always have fresh birds to pull.
Turn in the quest and rewards
When the counter hits 7/7, ride back and hand the beaks to the same NPC who gave you the quest. Completing the turn-in awards the experience and reputation below, and in the Classic chain it opens the follow-up quest, The Zhevra. That confirmation, plus the quest clearing from your log, is how you know it worked.
