Every Kado Thorne Reload Quest and Free Reward in Fortnite

Finish 12 Reload challenges across three maps to unlock six Fortnitemares 2026 cosmetics and bank extra XP.

Finish 12 Reload challenges across three maps to unlock six Fortnitemares 2026 cosmetics and bank extra XP.

Kado Thorne is back for Fortnitemares 2026, and his themed quest line sits entirely inside Fortnite Reload. Clearing these challenges hands you six free cosmetics plus a steady stream of XP, but every objective has to be finished in Reload across its three rotating maps.

Quick answer: Complete 12 Kado Thorne quests in Reload mode to earn all six rewards. The final prize, the Driver Of Darkness pickaxe, unlocks at 12 completed quests. None of this progress counts in Battle Royale or Zero Build.

All six Kado Thorne Reload rewards and their quest thresholds

Rewards unlock as your total count of completed Kado Thorne quests climbs. You hit a new cosmetic at every even milestone, starting at two quests and ending at the full set of twelve.

Where the quests live and the mode rules that matter

Complete all 12 Kado Thorne quests by clearing their four stages in order. They appear on the three Reload maps in rotation: Stranger Things, Surf City, and Nitemare Island.

Progress does not transfer between maps. Elimination counts and placements you earn on Nitemare Island stay on Nitemare Island, so you work each map’s set separately. The objectives also only register in Reload, not in standard Battle Royale or Zero Build.

Every map runs the identical four quests, so you are repeating the same objectives three times, once per island.

The four quests on each Reload map

Stranger Things, Surf City, and Nitemare Island each hold the same four challenges, worth 10,000 XP apiece. The only difference is the first quest, which names the map you are playing.

QuestRequirementReward

Clearing all four on all three maps gives you the 12 completions needed for the pickaxe. Because the eliminate and Top 5 targets stack naturally during normal play, most of the grind resolves just by queuing into each map and playing aggressively.

Locked and Reloaded quests for extra XP

A second Reload-only set, the Locked and Reloaded quests, ties into the same Kado Thorne event and pays 15,000 XP per quest. These are useful if you still need to finish the Override Battle Pass before the season ends.

How to confirm a reward unlocked

Each cosmetic drops into your account as soon as you cross its quest count, and it then appears in your in-game Locker ready to equip. You can watch the progress bar on the Kado Thorne quest screen tick toward the next milestone to see how close you are.

Epic Games has not confirmed how long these rewards stay claimable, so there is no firm cutoff date to plan around yet. Since the challenges run alongside the wider Fortnitemares 2026 celebration, it is safest to finish them while the event is live rather than waiting.
