Hellraiser: Revival – How to Beat Charlotte

Exploit her fire weakness with Dragon's Breath rounds and arena hazards to burn Charlotte down and claim Charlotte's Crown.

Exploit her fire weakness with Dragon’s Breath rounds and arena hazards to burn Charlotte down and claim Charlotte’s Crown.

Charlotte stalks Aidan through long stretches of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival before the cult leader Marlowe sacrifices her in an ascension rite, turning her into a towering, multi-limbed Cenobite with bladed arms. Once that transformation finishes, she becomes a full boss fight on the ritual stage, and the whole encounter hinges on one weakness.

Quick answer: Keep Charlotte on fire for the entire fight using Dragon’s Breath rounds and exploding barrels, kite her around the two police cars, then perform the execution when she glows blue.

Charlotte’s weakness: fire

Fire is the single factor that decides this fight. Every time Charlotte is burning, her damage output drops and her high mobility stops mattering, because the burn chips her health while you reposition. A burning Charlotte also has a high chance to stagger, which opens a few seconds of free damage.

You have several ways to set her alight, and you want as many of them ready as possible before the fight starts:

  • Dragon’s Breath shotgun rounds, which ignite her with every blast.
  • Red explosive barrels detonated while she stands next to them.
  • Fire thrown from the Genesis Configuration puzzle box, pulled from hanging light sources.
  • The two police cars, which explode when shot and can ignite her.
  • Fuel canisters stored in the trunk of each police car, used to douse the ground.

Prepare before you inspect the altar

The fight begins the moment you examine the photo and note on the altar near the hanging man, so do all your preparation first. Before you ever reach the arena, visit the vendor and buy the Dragon Breath Rounds upgrade for your shotgun. The arena is packed with shotgun ammo, so you can fire these liberally throughout the fight.

The Revolver costs 300 coins and serves as a solid backup for its high damage against a single target. Charlotte has a huge hitbox, making it easy for the shotgun to land every pellet, while the Revolver is handy when you need dependable burst damage.

When you arrive, sweep the arena for ammo, crafting materials, and bear traps before triggering anything. Place the bear traps in advance along lines you can kite Charlotte into, since you will not have time to set them once the fight is underway. Melee weapons, lockpicks, and repair kits are dead weight here, so leave them in storage and bring weapons, ammo, and healing items instead.

Save the explosive barrels, gas containers, torches, and puzzle-box fire for Charlotte herself. Spending them on the earlier zombies wastes your best ignition tools.

Let the police clear the zombie waves

Examining the altar brings in an opening group of about four to five zombies. To conserve ammo, use the puzzle box to throw objects at them. Bear traps are another option, but getting enemies to funnel into them can be tricky.

After that, a much larger horde appears, but two police cars then crash into the arena, run the zombies over, and start shooting the rest. Do not fire on the officers. Let them do the work and clean up the horde for you. Once the area is clear, Charlotte arrives, kills the police, and the real boss fight begins.

Ground phase: keep your distance and keep her burning

Charlotte’s close-range slashes do heavy damage and can pin you to the ground, so never let her close in. Use the two wrecked police cars as cover and kite her around them, the same way you handled Bruno’s fight. When she is not on fire she tends to rush you directly, and a well-timed dodge cancels that charge.

Pour fire onto her whenever you can. Blow up red barrels she passes, throw fire from the puzzle box, shoot the cars to explode them, or hit her with Dragon’s Breath blasts. A good routine is to use fire and barrels to keep the burn running, then save shotgun shots for moments when she is not already alight so the Dragon’s Breath re-ignites her and deals solid damage at the same time.

Ground-level bear traps can snare you, and the hazards you use can set you ablaze too. Keep an eye on your footing while kiting, since these environmental threats may be deadlier than Charlotte herself.

Cliff phase: explosive zombies and the acid throw

After she takes enough damage, Charlotte retreats onto a cliff and howls, summoning explosive zombies. Ignore her completely and focus on these enemies, because their detonations can wipe out your entire health bar in one blast. Take out the exploders at range first, then clean up any standard melee zombies.
With all three down, Charlotte starts hurling zombies at you from above. Watch for the moment she picks one up and holds it over her head.
Right before she throws it, shoot the zombie in the stomach. This rains acid down on Charlotte, knocks her off the cliff, and forces her back into the ground fight.

Once she lands, the fight resumes exactly as before with no new attacks. Keep her on fire and stay mobile. She may try to summon explosive zombies a second time, but with steady burn damage it is possible to finish her before that attack goes off again.

Finishing the fight and the reward

When Charlotte’s health runs low, she glows blue. That glow is your cue to approach and perform an execution, which instantly kills her and ends the fight. You know it worked when the execution animation plays and the arena goes quiet.

Killing her hands you her heart along with Charlotte’s Crown, a valuable you can sell for a high price. Grab both before leaving the ritual stage.
