Instruments are the catching gear in Scrooms, the Roblox adventure game from developer Doni that releases October 10th. You equip one, play it at a creature, and time the rhythm to charm it into your collection instead of fighting it. Across the release trailer and a run of developer sneak peeks, more than a dozen instruments have already been shown.

Quick answer: At least fourteen instruments have surfaced. The Adventurer’s Tambourine and an ocarina appear in the trailer, and twelve more were teased in developer sneak peeks between July and October 2026.

How Scrooms instruments work (catching gear and stats)

Each instrument is equipped from your Equipment Bag and used to capture mushroom creatures called scrooms. When you face one, a frequency slider and a rhythm timing bar appear. Hit the timing cleanly and the scroom is charmed peacefully, so capture is about rhythm rather than combat.

Instruments carry their own stats that shape how well they catch. The values shown so far are Precision, Harmony, Tension, Luck, Tune Speed, and Resonance. A better instrument makes harder or rarer scrooms easier to bring in, and successful catches are logged in the Index, the in-game catalog that tracks species such as Redcap, Acornub, and Fungabee under Songkeeper’s Grove.

Named instruments shown in the trailer

Two instruments have been shown by name in gameplay footage rather than as teaser renders.

Adventurer’s Tambourine

The Adventurer’s Tambourine is sold at Jane’s shop. Its Shop Purchase screen lists the full stat spread (Precision, Harmony, Tension, Luck, Tune Speed, and Resonance), which marks it as an early, buyable piece of catching gear rather than a quest reward.

Ocarina

An ocarina appears tied to exploration rather than catching. Playing the Song of Passage on it in front of marked stone doorways opens hidden caverns, so this instrument doubles as a key for sealed areas.

Developer sneak-peek instruments (July–October 2026)

Twelve more instruments were revealed one at a time as teaser images, each posted with a short cryptic line and no confirmed in-game name yet. Listed in the order they were shown:

RevealedTeaser line
Jul 28, 2026“An old melody, brought back to light”
Aug 5, 2026“one note and they start to listen”
Aug 15, 2026“Too much armor for a lute, no?”
Aug 18, 2026“Who’s ready to strike some chords?”
Aug 28, 2026“why ‘they’ were so set on keeping this a secret”
Aug 29, 2026“not suited for ANY library, I think”
Sep 7, 2026“Eight pipes. Cut from redwood”
Sep 13, 2026“the forest gave it up piece by piece”
Sep 14, 2026“you can hear it from deep in the woods”
Sep 26, 2026“something’s blooming”
Oct 2, 2026“the airflow on this thing is rather questionable”
Oct 5, 2026“either a filthy bassline or someone loses a limb”

A few give strong hints about the instrument type. The August 15th render points to a lute, the September 7th “eight pipes” line reads as a redwood pan flute, and the October lines describe a wind instrument and a bass-like instrument. In-game names and stats for these have not been published yet.

The developers promised a one-minute gameplay sneak for launch eve, which is the most likely place these teased instruments get shown in action.

How you get new instruments

Instruments come from two routes. Some are bought at Jane’s shop, like the Adventurer’s Tambourine. Others are unlocked through quests, upgrades, and exploration as you reach new regions and discover rarer scrooms, which is how the game expands your catching options over time.

Songtreads are not instruments. They are musical-note footgear that grants double jumps, gliding, and traversal upgrades, so don’t confuse them with your catching gear when you equip loadouts.

With the game arriving October 10th, the fourteen-plus instruments shown so far are the lineup confirmed heading into launch. Expect the teased renders to pick up proper names and stats once the full game is live and the launch-eve gameplay clip lands.
