Fortnite Crystallized Punisher Pickaxe: Why the Free Unlock Claims Are Fake

The glowing purple Candy Axe remix sits in the files unreleased, and every code circulating right now grants nothing.

The Crystallized Punisher is a purple, light-wrapped pickaxe that surfaced in Fortnite’s game files with the Fortnitemares 2026 update. It is a reskin of the holiday Candy Axe and shares its model with the rare Merry Mint Axe from 2019. Despite a wave of videos promising a free unlock, the pickaxe is not available in any form yet, and no code grants it.

Quick answer: The Crystallized Punisher is unreleased. It is not in the Item Shop, the Fortnitemares quests, or any live promotion, so every “free unlock” code, Admin Panel string, and Support-A-Creator trick shown right now is fake.

What the Crystallized Punisher pickaxe is

The pickaxe arrived in the v42.30 build on October 1, 2026, the same patch that launched the Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover and the rest of Fortnitemares across Chapter 7 Season 4. It is a reactive harvesting tool, meaning its appearance changes in response to something in a match, though Epic has not shown what triggers the effect. Any claim that it reacts on eliminations is a guess for now.

Cosmetic trackers list it as an Epic-rarity pickaxe under the internal ID Pickaxe_FrostedInk, with the official file description “Bring a sinister light to the darkness.” The item-acquired splash seen in circulating clips labels it a Rare pickaxe and adds the flavor line “Sharp. Shattered. Unstoppable. Part of the Crystallized set,” which is why both rarities show up in different places.

Why the free codes and Admin Panel tricks do not work

With no origin metadata, Item Shop assets, or associated quest attached to the pickaxe, the live game offers no way to claim it. Videos still show fabricated unlocks, typically combining a Support-A-Creator code with a hidden phrase entered in the in-game Admin Panel.

One circulating version enters Chatwhatisthispickaxe into the Admin Panel. The panel rejects it outright with the response “We’ve never seen this hack before and we hope we never do again.” Other videos use strings like AxeOfSupportChat, which fail the same way.

  • Lobby Hack and Admin Panel codes never grant cosmetics, only in-match lobby effects.
  • Support-A-Creator codes only credit a creator; they do not unlock any item.
  • “Free pickaxe” generator sites that ask for your Epic login exist to steal accounts.

Never enter your Epic Games login on any third-party site offering the Crystallized Punisher. Epic only honors codes redeemed through your own account.

How it will most likely be released

Epic has confirmed no redemption method, nor has it named an official date. Based on the item’s data and past release history, three credible possibilities remain, listed below from most likely to least likely.

Retail or V-Bucks card code

The best possibility is a retail giveaway: Crystallized Punisher shares the Merry Mint Axe’s model, while that pickaxe first appeared through a retail promotion in late 2019. GameStop distributed cards with codes, then participating shops in several countries offered a code with any Fortnite product purchase. A cosmetic lacking store assets is consistent with a code redemption, and scheduling a card giveaway around Halloween would fit the Fortnitemares period.

Item Shop listing

A future update might supply the missing store assets, allowing Epic to sell it for an as-yet-unspecified number of V-Bucks. Check files in the upcoming build for the shop tag that isn’t present now.

Fortnitemares quest reward

This option ranks last. Jack-A-Nape is the free outfit tied to this year’s event; players earn it after finishing 26 event quests. The files contain no quest association for the pickaxe.

What you can actually unlock free during Fortnitemares

While the Crystallized Punisher waits in the files, the Jack-A-Nape skin is the genuine free cosmetic tied to the event, earned through the Fortnitemares quest track. Those quests appear under the event tab and cover tasks like smashing pumpkin chests, dealing damage, and searching named locations.

How to know when it is really available

You will know the pickaxe is live one of three ways: it shows up in the Item Shop with a buyable price, it appears as a reward on an event quest, or Epic announces a retailer code card. Until one of those happens, the Locker will not list it and no code will add it. If a code promotion does arrive, the pickaxe lands in the Pickaxe slot of your Locker after you redeem it on your linked Epic account, so keep your platform accounts linked to Epic so it reaches the account you play on.

Fortnitemares is expected to run through the end of October, and the next update is the build most worth watching for a shop tag or a confirmed release method. Treat anything circulating before then, especially the Admin Panel strings, as clickbait rather than a working unlock.
