Fast travel in Permafrost links the points you have already reached on foot, letting you skip the long cold walk between them. Once you have two unlocked, a trip is a short menu action that costs nothing and brings your dog along.

Quick answer: From an unlocked point, use F when “Press F Travel” appears, select the destination’s sled symbol on the map, and choose Confirm. After roughly ten seconds of black screen, you arrive beside the sleds at the other point.

What you need before you can travel

A trip only works between two points you have both unlocked in person.

  • Two unlocked fast travel points. The one outside the Church and Horizon’s post are the pair most players start with.
  • No item and no Bucks are required at either end.

Unlock the Church fast travel point

The Church is the House Camp building marked with a “LOCAL CHURCH” sign on its front lawn, where the main quest The Way Home sends you to talk to Anna. The travel point sits outside on the open snow in front of it. Leave through the double doors, go down the front steps, and it is a few steps across the snow.

Look for a tall wooden post with a sign hanging from an arm at the top, a wooden notice board with a lantern beside it, and dog sleds parked at its foot. Until you unlock it, everything is buried, so it reads as a snowy heap of sleds around a pole.

Approach the sleds buried in snow until you see “Fast Travel: Church” and “Press F Unlock”.
Press F. The snow drops off the sleds and board, and the prompt changes to “Fast Travel: Church” with “Press F Travel”. A tip box titled FAST TRAVEL appears at the top right confirming the point is discovered.

Once unlocked, its position appears on the map as a white sled symbol, with “Location: Church” shown on hover. The unlock happens immediately and costs nothing.

Make a trip between two points

At an unlocked point, press F when you see “Press F Travel”. The MAP tab opens to the map also found in your inventory screen, and an orange arrow shows your position on the sled symbol for this point.
Find the other point’s sled icon. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out if the two will not fit on screen, and tap Space to recenter.
Select the icon to bring up a panel on the map’s right side. It displays the destination name and offers Confirm or Cancel. Choose Confirm with one click; you don’t need to hold the button. Cancel dismisses the panel without moving you.
The world goes black while your HUD stays on screen, including the quest tracker, compass, status icons and hotbar. This lasts about ten seconds. There is no loading artwork.
You appear standing beside the sleds and signpost of the destination. At the Church that puts you in front of the building with the open doors and the sign a few steps away; at Horizon it is the post in the square by the trader’s porch.

What a trip takes

The trip takes no Bucks or items, and no fare appears in the map panel. The clock at the top continues advancing through the black screen, moving forward by several in-game minutes. For instance, a journey from Horizon to the Church departed at 11:23 and arrived at 11:38.

Your dog makes the journey with you. If it is following when you set off, it will be at your side at the destination a few seconds after the view returns, with anything in its pack still stored there.

When fast travel is blocked

The game’s own tip states the limit plainly: travel is unavailable during combat or severe snowstorms. If the trip is refused, finish or walk away from the fight, or wait for the storm to clear, then use the post again.

Each trader can pay out only a limited amount of Bucks. At Horizon, you’ll find Robyn’s shop alongside a Repair Bench; the Church has a Dismantle Bench and the General Trader. For a large haul, sell some at one location, travel to the other, and sell what’s left.
