Mounts arrived in Steal an Egg with Update 8 on October 10, 2026, and they let you ride one of your own pets across the biomes instead of running everywhere on foot. Pets cannot be ridden the moment you get them. You first have to transform a pet into a mount, and that transformation only happens through one item.
Quick answer: Make a pet in your pen rideable by getting a Star through the nightly Star Drop event or purchasing one from the Star Handler NPC at spawn. Equip the Star, then feed it to any pet in your pen.

What a Star does in Steal an Egg
A Star, sometimes shown in-game as a Mount Star or Shooting Star, is the only item that turns a pet into a mount. Feed one to a pet and it transforms into something you can ride. Any pet works, from common ones to high-rarity picks like a Cosmic Dragon.
Two things are worth knowing before you spend one. The transformation is permanent and cannot be undone, so the pet you choose stays a mount for good. A mounted pet still earns money, so you can leave it in your pen and keep collecting its passive income while also riding it.
Each Star is consumed the instant you use it, and the change is irreversible. Pick the pet carefully, because converting your best pet does not give it any extra speed.

There are two ways to put a Star in your inventory. One is free but random, the other is instant but costs Robux.
Free: the Star Drop event
The Star Drop event, also called Starfall, has a small chance to trigger each in-game night, with a roll roughly every five minutes after dark. When it fires, a Star falls for every player on the server, so there is no competition. Each person gets their own unique Star to find and catch before it is theirs.
Eligibility depends on being in the server when that in-game day begins; you need to be there to get a Star when the event appears. Switching servers to pursue an event already underway won’t work or improve your odds.
Keep an eye on the sky after dark. Staying in one server for the full night cycle is the only way to qualify for a free Star.
Paid: the Star Handler NPC
For a quicker option, find the Star Handler NPC near spawn. The shop offers Mount Stars in bundles, with five Stars in its weekly stock, replenished each week. Ask the Star Handler to explain how the Star Drop event works.
| Bundle | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1 Star | 360 Robux |
| 3 Stars | 810 Robux |
| 5 Stars (best value) | 1,260 Robux |
Buying the five-Star bundle uses your entire weekly allowance, since the cap is five Stars before the stock restocks. Prices can shift between updates, so confirm the amount shown on your own shop card before you buy.

How to turn a pet into a mount
Once you have a Star, the conversion takes only a few moments. Head to your base pen, since you feed the Star to a pet that is placed there.

How to know it worked and start riding
The game confirms the change with an on-screen message such as “[Pet] is now a mount!” after the particle effect finishes. From there, interact with the pet and choose the Mount option to hop on and ride it through the different biomes. Press F to dismount at any time.
Keep in mind that a Star only ever converts one pet. If you want a second mount, you need a second Star. Riding comes with limits too. You cannot attack while mounted, and the mount does not protect you from incoming hits, so you can still take damage while on its back.
Because the choice is locked in once you confirm, the safest approach is to hold your Stars until you are certain which pet you want to ride. A mount is as much about appearance as anything, since turning a rare pet into one does not boost its speed, so pick the one you will actually enjoy riding around the map.
