Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 splits its arsenal between two heroes, and the weapons you prefer decide which one you take through the campaign. Malum Caedo fights as a heavy-hitting Sternguard Veteran, while Nyra Veyrath plays faster and leans on fire. Their loadouts barely overlap, with only one gun shared across both playthroughs.

Quick answer: You pick one hero for the whole campaign. Malum Caedo wields the Boltgun, Shotgun, Plasma rifle and Chainsword; Nyra Veyrath wields the Bolt pistol, Crossbow, Flamethrower and Power sword. Both can use the Heavy Bolter.

Picking a hero locks your whole campaign

Boltgun 2 runs a branching, single-player campaign where you commit to one of two playable characters at the start. Each hero brings their own weapons, their own abilities, and some levels that only they visit. The route through the game changes depending on who you choose.

You cannot swap characters partway through a playthrough, so the weapon set you want to play with is what should drive the choice.

Malum Caedo weapons (Sternguard Veteran)

Malum Caedo returns from the first Boltgun as an Ultramarine Sternguard Veteran. His kit is built around steady, heavy ranged output backed by a brutal melee finisher.

The Boltgun is his workhorse for mid-range fights, with the Shotgun covering close rooms and the Plasma rifle handling tougher targets with its energy fire. When enemies close the gap, the Chainsword is his melee answer.

Nyra Veyrath weapons (Sister of Battle)

Nyra Veyrath is new to the sequel, fighting as a Sister of Battle from the Adepta Sororitas. She plays swift and nimble, and her kit is built to set enemies alight and leave ashes behind.

The Bolt pistol and Crossbow give her quick, precise ranged options, while the Flamethrower is her signature tool for clearing groups with fire. In melee she swings a Power sword rather than a chainblade.

Heavy Bolter: the weapon both heroes use

The Heavy Bolter is the one gun that appears for both characters. In the demo it was handed to you during the ice-level finale, letting either hero lay down sustained heavy fire regardless of who you chose. Everything else in the loadout stays specific to Malum or Nyra.

Throwables seen in the demo

Alongside the primary guns, the demo also showed two throwables in the mix.

More weapons expected at launch

Every weapon above comes from the May 2026 demo, which covered only a slice of the campaign. The full game is set to add more weapons on top of these starter loadouts, so both heroes should gain options the demo never showed.
