Aniimo: How to Get the Whalesong Blossom in Everlasting Echoback Song

Activate the Echonite crystals at night at Echoback Landing, watch the whale scene, then pick the bloom that supplies Elvira's perfume.

The Whalesong Blossom is an Epic quest item and a raw material for perfume blending. It only appears after you finish the Everlasting Echoback Song request at Echoback Landing in Breezy Plains, the part of The Legend of Echoback Landing where you wake the Echonite crystals buried in the whale bones. Once the bloom is collected, it goes to Elvira, a perfumer from Bloomville, who uses it to recreate her mother’s scent.

Quick answer: Talk to Sorora at Echoback Landing, switch the time of day to Nighttime, strike the glowing blue Echonites in the order their light trail shows, then pick the Whalesong Blossom that blooms on the shore after the whale cutscene.

Before you start: requirements and location

Echoback Landing sits in the northwest section of Breezy Plains, with a level range of 36 to 40. You reach the bloom through two linked requests, and it helps to know how they connect before you go.

  • Talk to Elvira at the entrance of Bloomville in Sea of Flowers to begin A Fragrant Journey. She asks for a Whalesong Blossom.
  • The blossom itself only drops from the Everlasting Echoback Song request, run by the painter Sorora at Echoback Landing.
  • You need to change the time of day to night; the Echonites stay inert in daylight.
  • Keep a Fire Aniimo and a Rock/Grass Aniimo in your party to clear the vines and boulder blocking two of the crystals.

Start Everlasting Echoback Song with Sorora

Travel to Echoback Landing and head to the painter at his easel on the rocky shore. Speak with Sorora and continue the dialogue. He explains the fishermen’s tale that singing on a moonlit night makes the Echobacks’ song rise, and the request enters your Log.

Open the system menu, set the time to Nighttime, and accept the prompt to move time forward. The blue crystals, known as Echonites, work only after dark, so one that looks ready at midday won’t trigger the chain.

Strike the Echonites in order

The puzzle is a chain, not a free-for-all. Each Echonite you hit sends a thin blue light trail toward the next one, and the trail is the route. Hitting random crystals does nothing; follow the resonance each time.

Find the first Echonite in the whale skeleton northeast of the painter, tucked under vines. Twine with a Fire Aniimo and burn the vines away, then strike the stone at night to activate it. A blue trail extends toward the next crystal.
Follow the trail along the shore and up onto the bone arch overhead. Strike the Echonite set into the arch, then turn the camera to catch where the new trail travels before you move on.

Follow the trail over the shallow water until you reach a pink bone spur oriented toward the ocean, then hit the crystal beside it. The path stays close to the water, and the following link crosses the shallows once more.

Hit the crystal attached to a pink rock protrusion on the shoreline. If a grey boulder blocks the path to the next stone, swap to a Rock/Grass Aniimo like Budclaw and use a mining attack to shatter it.

Where the trail leaves the ground, fly or climb up to the elevated platform structure and strike the crystal there, then drop to the pillars below to continue. Twine with flying and climbing Aniimo for the higher sections rather than trying to fly the whole gap, which drains stamina.

Keep following the chain out through the shallow water and across the bone pillars until you reach the final Echonite pillar standing offshore. Strike it to close the chain and start the cutscene.

When the light trail cuts out, return to an Echonite you have already activated and hit it again to renew the resonance; make sure it is still night. You don’t need to start the whole request over.

Collect the Whalesong Blossom

Activating the last Echonite plays a cinematic. Celestial energy lights up the whale bones, a spirit Echoback takes flight over the island, and a living Echoback appears in the sea below to reunite with it. When the scene ends, your objective changes to collecting the bloom.

Follow the blue particles to the shore beside the bone structures on the beach’s north side. Interact with the glowing flower to collect the Whalesong Blossom. Its description says a feeling of yearning causes these flowers to bloom, explaining why they show up here after the Echobacks reunite.

You know the pickup worked when the objective updates to ask Sorora whether he has finished his paintings.

Finish with Sorora, then hand the bloom to Elvira

Go back to Sorora and finish discussing his painting. He asks you to choose between Symphony of Reunion and Echoes of a Vigil, then completes the canvas immediately. Choosing either title completes Everlasting Echoback Song and gives you its reward.

Finding the whale story alone does not complete the perfume branch. To finish A Fragrant Journey, return to Bloomville and hand the Whalesong Blossom to Elvira. She crafts the Whisper of Longing perfume and gives it to you, completing the request.

Aniimo to keep handy for the Echonite puzzle

Two obstacles along the chain need specific elements: vines over the first crystal must be burned, and a boulder blocks a later one. Having one Fire Aniimo and one Rock/Grass Aniimo in your lineup covers both. The two creatures that handle these jobs break down as follows.

AniimoElementsRoleUse here
ScorchhowlFireDPSBurn the vines over the first Echonite
BudclawRock, GrassBREAKSmash the boulder blocking a later crystal

Scorchhowl is a Fire creature from Breezy Plains that lives around Beast Fang Ridge. Its Fire Kick and other fire skills clear the vines and activate the stones quickly.

Budclaw is a Rock and Grass creature found across Nimbus Fields, Berylline Vale, Beast Fang Ridge, and Zephyrus Landbridge. Its mining-type attack is what breaks the grey boulder so you can reach the crystal behind it.
