Gold Coins are a terrain material used for cosmetics, fishing supplies, and diving gear. Enshrouded 1.0 seeded them into loot chests across the whole world, and the chest map shows where they sit. Each coin carries the in-game description “Gold coins, ideal for bedazzling, boasting, and bribing.”
Quick answer: Loot chests everywhere drop Gold Coins. Spend them at Mei-Yin Chen (vanity for 5 each, fireworks 10), the Fisher (bait, fish materials, rods, diving gear), and the Coffee Brewer (5 per batch).
Where Gold Coins drop in Enshrouded
Chests can contain Gold Coins from the earliest areas through Cinder’s Cradle. Their availability so early makes them part of the Springlands material set. Open every chest you pass and use the hold-interact loot pickup to collect its contents. Coins enter your inventory as a material and stack to 1,000 per slot in Terrain Materials.
Higher chests in Cinder’s Cradle hand out coins alongside gear. One chest in a small Ancient dungeon there held Gold Coins x12 together with the Avalanche Starter bow and the Candlelight Wand. The next chest in the same dungeon gave Gold Coins x13 with the Emberguard Helmet and Emberguard Pants.

In the research chamber at Cinder’s Ascent, Loraine Crim’s chest contains Gold Coins +5, Ory’s Staff, Heal Cascade II +18, an Ancient Health Potion +2, and a Fire Wisp Summon.

Mei-Yin Chen, the Lunar New Year Trader, is located in the Springlands (see the survivors map). To recruit her as a survivor, accept “Ringing In The New Year” from the Carpenter and track her to the Low Meadows, where she walks her usual route. Completing the quest grants 800 XP.

After she reaches your base, she can use coins to make duplicate vanity clothes. Her inventory covers 117 pieces, each costing 5 Gold Coins; you must unlock a piece before she can reproduce it. The available sets are Artificer’s, Blacksmith, Blood Rose, Efflorescent Hope, Exclusive Hollow, Fae Deer Farmer, Farmer, Flame Pact, Fluffy, Gravedigger, Hollow’s Eve, Hunter, Lumberer, Milkmaid, Noble, Royal, Scholar Of The Empyrean, Scholar of the Young Flame, Serpent Warrior, Siren Seeker, Summer Games, Sunny Loungewear, and Winterly. Individual options include the Captain’s Coat, Jester Hat, Tricorn, Headscarf, Loraine’s Glasses, and Loraine’s Top.
She also handles fireworks. The Blue Rocket, Green Rocket, Purple Rocket, Red Fountain, and Yellow Fountain each cost 10 Gold Coins for a batch of 10. Her other recipes, including paper lanterns, room dividers, flowers, the Serpent weapons, and the Lunar New Year Door, use normal materials and no coins.
The Fisher: bait, fish materials, rods, and diving gear
Captain Melville Fontane, the Fisher in Veilwater Basin (his fishing spots are on our map), accepts coins for most of his offerings. In his crafting screen, coins appear as a listed resource; Electric Nerve, for instance, shows “Shockfin 1/1, Gold Coins 2/2” and requires a Fisher and Sheltered Bed.

The Coffee Brewer
The Farmer builds the Coffee Brewer from 10 Gold Dust, 5 Steel Bars, 10 Palm Leaves, and 20 Wood Planks, and it must sit under a roof. Every brew produces 5 drinks. Black Coffee and Latte each cost 5 Gold Coins, 5 Ground Coffee Beans, and 5 Water. Sweet Mokka uses the same base plus 3 Sugar.

What to buy first
Bait and the Fisher’s fish materials carry the most weight for progress. Fish Scales, Fish Poison Gland and Electric Nerve turn up in late-game Eternal spell recipes, and Fish Teeth or Fish Bones grind into the Piscine Ivory Dust that Flame Level 10 asks for. Vanity pieces from Mei-Yin Chen and the fireworks are purely cosmetic, so they can wait until you have coins to spare.
