Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse — The Temptress Arcana Location and Succubus Boss

Clear four Mirror of Life challenges, free the Queen trapped in the Main Hall, then beat the Succubus to claim the Life Drain card.

The Temptress is the twelfth Arcana in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and it does not drop from a boss you simply walk into. Rose has to complete four separate Mirror of Life combat challenges spread across the map, use them to break the chains on a sealed mirror in the Main Hall, then survive a long Hall of Mirrors gauntlet that ends with the Succubus. Winning that fight hands over the card and its Life Drain spell.

Quick answer: Crouch at the Mirror of Life in Paris Streets, the Main Hall, the Clock Tower, and Notre-Dame and clear each challenge. This unlocks the chained mirror in the Main Hall where the Queen is trapped. Enter it, reach the end of the Hall of Mirrors, and defeat the Succubus to get The Temptress.

The four Mirror of Life challenges you must clear first

Each of these mirrors sits in a different zone. You interact with one by crouching directly in front of it, which drops Rose into a small Hall of Mirrors arena. Clear every enemy inside to finish that trial. The order does not matter, but all four must be done before the chained mirror in the Main Hall will open.

Free the Queen in the Main Hall mirror

With all four trials done, return to the Main Hall. A large central mirror there holds the Queen, Sypha, bound by four chains. Those four chains correspond to the four challenges you just cleared, so completing them shatters the chains and opens the portal.

To reach the chained mirror, cross the Boudoirs, Waterworks, Forgotten Basement, Torture Chambers, and the Mirror Rooms, working past spinning saws, chandeliers, and red portal doors along the way. When you arrive at the grand mirror, the four chains break and the portal unlocks.

Clear the Hall of Mirrors and beat the Succubus

Enter the mirror where the Queen was trapped. This drops you into the Hall of Mirrors, a lengthy gauntlet inside Dracula’s Castle. The route carries you through zones like the Tower of Worldly Reflection, Threshold of Vision, Servants’ Refectory, the Hall of Hallucination, Glass Gallery, Passage of Perplexity, Familiar Way, Chamber of Secrecy, and The Descent into Memory.

Expect waves of armored soldiers, floating eye demons, and animated swords in the combat rooms, along with spikes, buzzsaws, and heavy guards in the platforming stretches. Push through to the inner chamber at the end.

In the chamber, Sypha appears as an illusion of Rose’s mother and tries to persuade Rose to accept Dracula’s curse. Rose refuses and strikes the apparition down, exposing the real foe: the Succubus. Defeat her and take the golden orb she drops; it becomes The Temptress Arcana card.

The Hall of Mirrors is long and has no checkpoints mid-gauntlet, so stock up on healing before you enter the Queen’s mirror.

What The Temptress Arcana gives you

The Temptress is tied to the Succubus and carries the Life Drain spell. The card is number 12 in the deck and lists a single clue to its whereabouts. Once you hold it, equip it from the paused menu to slot Life Drain into Rose’s loadout.

Like every Arcana, The Temptress can be upgraded by completing its Works of Mercy, the card’s own set of in-world challenges:

  • Drain an enemy for 5 seconds straight without interruption.
  • Explore all rooms of the Hall of Mirrors.
  • Kill 25 enemies with the life drain.

How to confirm you unlocked it

You have the card once the golden orb from the Succubus resolves into The Temptress card on screen with a prompt to hold and equip it. From then on, Life Drain appears in your spell selection and the Arcana shows up in your deck with its Works of Mercy tracked. If the card is in your deck, the unlock is complete.

The Temptress is one of the single-clue cards, so there is less scouting to do on paper, but the four-mirror setup and the Hall of Mirrors gauntlet make it one of the more involved unlocks in the deck. Clear the trials in whatever order suits your route, keep your healing topped up, and the Succubus hands over Life Drain at the end.
