The Flame Sanctum is a small shrine tucked into the mountains close to the Ancient Vault – Carpenter, where you interact with a central flame font to collect Sparks. It sits inside and around the Shroud, so reaching it is a timed run rather than a leisurely hike.

Quick answer: Head to the Shroud path southeast of Braelyn Bridge, glide across the gorge, climb into the Ancient Vault – Carpenter zone, follow the path southeast, and press Collect at the altar to receive Sparks.

Where the Flame Sanctum is located

The sanctum lies southeast of the Ancient Vault – Carpenter, in the Low Meadows region east of the starting Springlands. Its map icon appears on the world map alongside the Braelyn Bridge and Ancient Vault – Carpenter markers once you are near the area.

Because the approach runs through Shroud mist, you cannot fast travel while inside it. The game states plainly that fast travel is not possible while in the Shroud, so you commit to the run on foot and by glider until you are back in clear air.

What to bring before you set out

Shroud blankets the vault and the surrounding area. To last through the misty crossing, upgrade your Flame Altar to Level 2. Bring healing items and a glider, as you’ll need to glide across two separate open gaps.

  • Flame Altar upgraded to Level 2 for Shroud survival time.
  • A glider for crossing the gorge and the later gap.
  • Healing potions, bandages, and food to keep stamina up.
  • Decent armor and a weapon, since the wider region holds hostile creatures.

Route to the Flame Sanctum

Start on the Shroud path southeast of Braelyn Bridge. Run along the cliffside ledge until you reach the edge, then glide across the gorge gap to the far side.

Climb the grassy, foliage-covered pathway on the other side. As you ascend out of the mist, the “Ancient Vault – Carpenter” zone banner appears and you step into daylight.
Circle the rock wall on the dirt-and-cobblestone trail, moving southeast. If the winding mountain route leaves you unsure of your bearings, check the map to track the sanctum’s position.
Make your way along the ravine passage, then glide over the shallow gap at its end. Once you land, the Flame Sanctum’s stone entrance will be directly ahead.

How to confirm you collected the Spark

When you interact with the altar, the Collect prompt lists a Spark +1 reward along with Bones. Taking it adds the Spark to your inventory, which you can verify by opening your backpack right after. Opening the world map should also place your location cursor squarely inside the Flame Sanctum, confirming you reached the correct shrine.

Since you cannot teleport out while standing in Shroud, retrace your route to a clear area before trying to fast travel home.

Glider stats for the two crossings

The route depends on two glides, so the glider you bring directly affects how far you cover before stamina runs out. Both gliders draw 4 stamina per second, but their range and speed differ.

GliderItem levelRangeSpeed
Glider5100%10
Advanced Glider10150%15

The basic Glider is an Uncommon tool crafted at the Workbench and unlocked through its own quest. The Advanced Glider is a Rare tool crafted under a roof once you have Linen, and it is the reward for the Carpenter quest “A Graceful Flight.” Its wider range makes the gorge crossing more forgiving if you tend to land short.

With a Level 2 Flame Altar lit, a glider stowed, and the southeast heading from Braelyn Bridge in mind, the Flame Sanctum is a quick detour that leaves you one Spark richer.
