Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Algae and Algae Buds

Where the plants grow in the Veilwater Basin, how much each one gives, and how to farm more at the Seedbed.

Algae and Algae Buds come from the same source in Enshrouded 1.0, and both are gathered underwater in the Veilwater Basin. The plants sit on the floor of the water, so you have to dive down to reach them. Each harvest hands over both items at once.

Quick answer: Swim out over the water in the Veilwater Basin, dive to the bottom, and harvest the algae plants. Each one gives 2 or 3 Algae and 1 or 2 Algae Buds.

Harvest Algae in the Veilwater Basin

The algae plants grow under the water, and there are several hundred of them spread across the Veilwater Basin. Gather Algae by diving in the Veilwater Basin and harvesting the plants.

Make your way to Veilwater Basin, then swim into the open water.
Submerge, reach the basin floor, and scan the area for algae plants.
Pick up the plants one by one. Algae and Algae Buds appear in the left-hand pickup list as you gather them.

Algae is a Common consumable that stacks to 20. Its item text reads, “These algae may look inconspicuous, but they are highly versatile.” Algae Buds carry their own note: “These are the buds of an algae plant. They’re inedible when raw, but can be dried.”

Grow more Algae at the Seedbed

After obtaining at least one Algae, you can grow a supply at your base rather than dive for each piece. At the Seedbed, 1 Algae and 1 Veilwater Basin Dirt produce 5 Algae Seedlings in 180 seconds. Set the seedlings in the ground at your base, then harvest them once they mature.
