Aion 2: Where to Farm Decomposed Lupyllini to Lv3 (Pets)

In Aion 2, Decomposed Lupyllini is a Cogni pet that you obtain by gathering its souls. Lupyllini mobs drop souls on either side of the map, but the farming takes place in Altgard. Asmodians are there already; Elyos must travel through a Spacetime Rift and hunt Ferocious Lupyllini at Basfelt Ruins.

Quick answer: Kill Lupyllini in Altgard, either Decomposed Lupyllini around Battlescar Mound or Ferocious Lupyllini in Basfelt Ruins, until you have 105 souls. That covers the 5-soul unlock plus Lv. 2 and Lv. 3.

Monsters that drop Soul: Decomposed Lupyllini

Three monster types drop Soul: Decomposed Lupyllini (Bound). They all belong to the Cogni creature type and share the same leather, meat, and Refining Stone drops. They differ in level, aggression, and how many spawns they have.

MonsterLevelWhereSpawn points
Decomposed Lupyllini10–32Altgard: Battlescar Mound, Dredgion Crash Site, Tranein Highland, Moslan Forest67
Ferocious Lupyllini33Altgard: Basfelt Ruins16
Contaminated Highland Lupyllini35Verteron: Eastern Altamia Highland8

Decomposed Lupyllini mobs are aggressive and will attack you on sight. Ferocious Lupyllini and Contaminated Highland Lupyllini are not, so you can pick your fights. The Altgard spawns add up to 83 points, compared with 8 in Verteron. That gap is why Altgard is the practical farm for both factions.

Elyos route: Ferocious Lupyllini in Basfelt Ruins

The pet’s source tooltip in the Pets menu sends Elyos players to Eastern Altamia Highland in Verteron, near the Altamia Highland Ruins. The Contaminated Highland Lupyllini there are spread thin and hard to track down. A more dependable option is to cross into Asmodian territory.

Go through a Spacetime Rift into Altgard. This is the only way an Elyos character gets access to the Altgard Lupyllini spawns.
Open the Altgard map and find Battlescar Mound. Head southeast from it toward Basfelt Ruins, where the Ferocious Lupyllini spawn.

Look up as well as around once you reach the ruins. Many Ferocious Lupyllini perch on cliffs or hover high in the air instead of walking on the ground.

Bring each target into range and kill it. Ranged classes can hit them where they float. Melee classes should use pull or hook skills, ideally with cooldown resets so they can chain pulls, or take the fight into the air with flight combat.

Ferocious Lupyllini are not aggressive and sit at level 33. You set the pace, and nothing gangs up on you while you line up pulls.

Asmodians don’t need the rift. The level 10–32 Decomposed Lupyllini packs around Battlescar Mound, Dredgion Crash Site, Tranein Highland, and Moslan Forest drop the same soul, and they come early in the Altgard leveling path. Basfelt Ruins is also open to Asmodians if you want the non-aggressive version.

Souls needed for Decomposed Lupyllini Pet Insight Lv. 3

The pet costs 5 souls to unlock. Each Pet Insight level after that costs more than the last. Lv. 3 is the cap, and getting there takes 105 souls total.

StageSoulsOwned EffectGenus Insight EXP
Unlock (Lv. 1)5HP +10+500
Lv. 1 → Lv. 225HP +20, Critical Hit +1+250
Lv. 2 → Lv. 375HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1+250

Owned Effects replace each other rather than stack, so a Lv. 3 Decomposed Lupyllini gives HP +30, Critical Hit +2, and Might +1 in total. Every Cogni pet grants the same stats at the same Insight level. Lupyllini is simply one of the more accessible Cogni pets to max. Each level also changes how you can use the pet. Lv. 1 lets you ride it as a mount, Lv. 2 adds gliding, and Lv. 3 unlocks transformation.

To transform, equip Decomposed Lupyllini as your pet at Pet Insight Lv. 3 and use an Empathy Candy. The candy costs 20 Centuryroot Token in the Shugo Festival Shop and also comes as a Pet Collection Status reward. The transformation lasts 5 minutes. Your skills stay usable while transformed, but you can’t mount, and you have to cancel the transformation before you can switch pets.

Checking your Pet Insight progress

Open the Pets menu and select Decomposed Lupyllini. The Pet Insight line shows your current level and a soul counter toward the next one. For example, “Lv. 1 (10/25)” means you need 15 more souls for Lv. 2. When the counter fills, the level goes up and the Owned Effect line updates to the new stats.

Modified Lupyllini is a separate Cogni pet with its own soul. Its farm is on Eternal Isle in Verteron, and killing those mobs won’t add anything to Decomposed Lupyllini.

Monster drops are the repeatable route, but the pet and its souls also appear elsewhere. You can get them from the Black Cloud Merchants (Special and Pets tabs), the Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound) and Growth Pet Chest (Bound), the My Reliable Friends II achievement, and the Nightmare Altar and Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trials at every difficulty. Any of these can shorten the grind, but steady kills in Altgard are what get most players to Lv. 3.
