Steal an Egg Roblox: New Secret Changes to Souls and the Phantom Express

Steal an Egg’s Halloween event received a set of unannounced balance changes, and all of them affect the Phantom Express side of the event. Spirits in the train’s destination area now pay out different soul amounts. The Spectral Mutation at the Soul Extractor costs half its original price. The Phantom Express Ticket also no longer works as a one-time pass. Taken together, these changes make the soul-to-mutation loop much cheaper to run.

Quick answer: Lost Spirits now give 20 souls, Haunted Spirits give 50, and Vengeful Spirits give 110. A Spectral Mutation costs 500 souls, and your Phantom Express Ticket stays in your inventory after you board.

Steal an Egg spirit soul rewards: Old vs. new values

Souls, labelled Haunted Spirits (Souls) in the trade menu, come from vacuuming up ghosts in the area the Phantom Express drops you in. There are three spirit types, each marked by color. Two of them were buffed and one was cut back.

You can confirm the new values from the pop-up that appears on every capture. It now reads “Captured Lost Spirit! +20 Souls” where it used to show +10. The Haunted Spirit message has gone from +35 to +50.

The red Vengeful Spirit is still the most valuable catch, but the gap has narrowed a lot. It used to be worth more than four Haunted Spirits. Now it’s worth roughly two. The common blue and purple spirits carry much more of the soul economy than they did before.

Spectral Mutation price cut at the Soul Extractor

The Soul Extractor is the NPC that turns souls into the Spectral Mutation consumable. Its trade used to read “Trade 1000 Souls for 1 Spectral Mutation Consumable.” It now asks for 500 souls, a 50 percent reduction. The item itself is unchanged and lists a 25% mutation chance. A successful purchase shows “Traded Souls for one Spectral Mutation!”

Combined with the new spirit values, the price cut changes how many captures one mutation takes.

Each row assumes you catch only that spirit type. In practice you’ll mix colors. Even so, a run of mostly blue spirits now costs a quarter of the captures it used to. That matters because each Phantom Express visit gives you only a few minutes of hunting time.

Consumables can’t be used inside the safe zone. Trying to apply one there brings up “Cannot use items in the safe zone!”

Phantom Express Ticket is now reusable

You earn the Phantom Express Ticket by finishing Echo the Ghost Dog’s memories quest, which ends with the Haunted Rod fishing minigame. The ticket used to be spent when you boarded. Now it stays in your inventory after you get on the train, so one quest completion covers every later ride.

There’s no change to the train’s timetable: it pulls in at each hour and half-hour, with 30 minutes between arrivals. While it’s stopped, a “Boarding Closes In” timer counts down, giving you roughly four to five minutes to gather souls before departure. Just before it returns to The Corrupted Realm, you’ll see the final warning: “The train is leaving in 10 seconds!”

Corrupted Realm enemies and Candy Corn drops

None of the changes appear to affect the Candy Corn side of the event. Enemy health and drops in The Corrupted Realm look the same as before. These are the current values.

The Halloween event is listed on Roblox as running from October 17 to 24, 2026, which leaves only a few days to use the cheaper Spectral Mutation price. There’s no indication yet of what Spectral Mutation consumables will be worth in trading after the event ends. Players stockpiling them at 500 souls apiece are betting that the item becomes scarce once the train stops running.
