Kino der Toten launched with Call of Duty: Black Ops in 2010. It returned in 2017 as part of the Zombies Chronicles DLC for Black Ops 3. The map has no main Easter egg quest. Instead, it has a set of smaller side secrets, and most of them work the same way in both versions. The 2017 remake drops one of them and adds a new one that rewards a free Max Ammo.
Quick answer: Both versions have the “115” song, three film reels, the model rocket and the character portraits. The bleeding mannequin exists only in BO1. Samantha’s Sorrow, which gives a Max Ammo, exists only in BO3.
Kino der Toten side Easter eggs by version
| Easter egg | BO1 | BO3 | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| “115” song | Yes | Yes | Plays “115” |
| Film reels | Yes | Yes | Film and audio on theater screen |
| Model rocket | Yes | Yes | Rocket launches through ceiling |
| Character portraits | Yes | Yes | Character voice lines |
| Two hidden radios | Yes | Not confirmed | Story audio |
| Bleeding mannequin | Yes | Removed | Blood splatter |
| Samantha’s Sorrow | No | Yes | Max Ammo and song |
Several of these secrets depend on the teleporter. That means you need the power on and Pack-a-Punch access before you can finish the film reels or the rocket. The song, portraits, radios and mannequin work at any time.

Kino has one power switch, and it sits at the back of the theater stage near the curtains. It is not in a basement. After you flip it, use the teleporter mainframe on the stage to start the link. Then use the teleporter pad in the spawn room to complete it. Step onto the stage teleporter and it sends everyone on the pad up to the Pack-a-Punch room. An upgrade costs 5,000 points.
You get about 30 seconds in the Pack-a-Punch room. The second hand on the clock above the machine shows how much time you have left, and you are pulled out when it reaches 12. After each trip the teleporter needs about a minute to cool down, and you have to link the pad and mainframe again before every ride.
If a weapon is still inside the Pack-a-Punch machine when the teleporter sends you back, you lose that weapon for good.
How to play the “115” song
The song “115” by Kevin Sherwood and Elena Siegman starts after you hold interact on three small Element 115 meteorite fragments. You can activate them in any order, and the song can only be triggered once per match. The locations are the same in BO1 and BO3.
| Fragment | Room | Exact spot |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spawn room | Glass jar in the corner under the stairs, by the lower zombie window |
| 2 | Dressing room | Stand behind the mannequins, behind the MP5K (KN-44 in BO3) wall buy |
| 3 | Back room off the alley | Shelf among scattered letters, beside a zombie window |
The spawn room fragment is closest to the stairs near Quick Revive. The third fragment is in the small storage room upstairs past the alley. Look on the shelf that holds the loose letters.

You will know it worked when “115” starts playing across the map right after you activate the third fragment.
Teleporter room secrets: Film reels and the model rocket
When the teleporter takes you back from Pack-a-Punch, it sometimes drops you briefly in one of four bonus rooms before you return to the map. Which room you get is random. The rooms are Samantha’s bedroom, a destroyed and blood-covered version of that bedroom, an interrogation room, and the Pentagon conference room. Both the film reels and the rocket are hidden in these rooms, so the method is simple. Keep linking the teleporter and riding it until the room you need shows up.
Film reels (BO1 and BO3)
There are three film reels in total, and a reel can randomly spawn in the bonus rooms. Each one sits on a piece of furniture such as a bed, table, cart, counter or TV, so check the whole room before the teleporter moves you out.

A loaded reel projects film footage onto the main theater screen and plays a matching audio clip. If you see the screen change and hear the audio, that reel is done.

Model rocket launch (BO1 and BO3)

The steps are the same in the BO3 remake. The Pentagon room shows up as one of the random teleporter stops there as well.

Some runs report that the rocket only reacts after all three film reels have been loaded. If it ignores you after the mannequin jumps, finish the reels and try again.
Portraits, radios and the bleeding mannequin
These secrets need no setup at all. Each one triggers the moment you interact with it or shoot it.
Character portraits (BO1 and BO3)
Head upstairs to the room with Mule Kick. Five framed pictures hang on the wall. Four show the Ultimis crew, which is Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and Richtofen. The fifth is an obscured silhouette that represents Primis Nikolai. Interact with each frame and your character speaks a line about it. The line changes depending on which character you are playing as.

Two hidden radios (BO1)
Shoot the radio hidden on the large chandelier above the main theater. Then shoot the second radio on top of the guard tower outside the map. You can see it from the alley barrier by Double Tap. Each radio plays a message from Dr. Ludvig Maxis. The tower radio only appears if you look through a weapon with a zoom scope, so bring one for that shot.
Bleeding mannequin (BO1 only)
In the dressing room, shoot the mannequin torso and blood splatters out of it. This secret was cut from the BO3 remake, so nothing happens if you try it in Zombies Chronicles.
Samantha’s Sorrow: Free Max Ammo (BO3 only)
The Zombies Chronicles version adds a two-part secret that starts with a knock code and ends with a hide-and-seek game with Samantha’s dolls. Finishing it gives you a free Max Ammo and plays the song “Samantha’s Sorrow.” Zombies make it hard to hear the knocks, so a GobbleGum or a teammate who keeps the horde away from you will help.
Solving the knock codes at the blue door
The codes change every match, but they always come from this set of ten: 115, 121, 143, 241, 321, 512, 534, 624, 666 and 935. If what you count doesn’t match one of these, you miscounted a group.
Timing matters. If you knife too slowly within a group, or don’t pause long enough between groups, the input fails and you have to wait a few minutes before you can try again.
After the third correct code, you hear a chime and a Samantha sound. That tells you the doll has spawned.
Finding and shooting the Samantha dolls
Each run picks five dolls from a larger pool of possible spots.
| # | Area | Doll spot |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Theater | Seat inside a zombie spawn on the Juggernog side |
| 2 | Theater | Beyond the boundary, atop the seat to Juggernog’s right |
| 3 | Theater | Projector room window sill |
| 4 | Theater | Hanging below the chandelier orb, above the turret |
| 5 | Theater | First-row seat on the right side |
| 6 | Theater | Down the stairs from the teleporter, by canisters |
| 7 | Theater | Broken balcony above the first doll’s spot |
| 8 | Theater | Light on the upper viewing area, left of the projector window |
| 9 | Stage | Metal ladder platform above the dressing room door |
| 10 | Stage | Behind the fake-wall prop beside Wunderfizz |
Each doll has a timer: leave one unfound too long and Samantha laughs, which resets the hunt. The knock codes don’t need to be entered again. Return to the first doll’s location and interact with it to launch the hunt immediately. The final side Easter egg in Kino der Toten is complete once Max Ammo drops and “Samantha’s Sorrow” begins playing.
