Celestium Ore is the material behind almost every piece of endgame gear in Enshrouded. It only comes from Cinder’s Cradle, the volcanic region at the top of the map, and it sits inside caves rather than on the surface. Once you know which cave to use, a single run gives you enough for a full Blast Furnace batch.

Quick answer: Fast travel to a Flame Altar northeast of Ancient Gate in Cinder’s Cradle, follow the stone road south into the cave marked MINE, and break the Celestium vein with a pickaxe.

What you need before mining Celestium Ore

Cinder’s Cradle is gated behind Flame progression. You have to unlock the next Flame Level before you can enter the region, and that same upgrade raises the Flame Altar cap to 15. Sort out the rest of your kit before you leave your base.

The Flame Altar’s Strengthen the Flame screen lists the upgrade requirements for raising the Flame Level from 1 to 2.
  • A Flame Altar upgraded far enough to reach Cinder’s Cradle.
  • A pickaxe. A Gilded Pickaxe clears a full Celestium vein without trouble.
  • A Glider for crossing the gaps and lava along the route.
  • A spare Flame Altar, so you can drop a fast travel point near the mines.
  • Gear and a weapon suited to the region, since Ancients guard some of the veins.
  • Free backpack space for ore plus the Archaic Shards and Gold Ore you pick up nearby.

How to get Celestium Ore from the Ancient Gate mine

The most direct deposit is a cave mine just east and southeast of the Ancient Gate landmark, above the Shroud. You approach it on foot from a Flame Altar placed to the northeast, so the run is short and repeatable.

Open the world map and fast travel to a Flame Altar northeast of Ancient Gate. If you have not built one there yet, walk in once and place your spare altar on flat ground near the road so every future trip starts in the same spot.

Once you spawn, open the map again and drop a Custom Marker south of the altar, toward the cave entrance. Choose “Create Marker” and then “Set as Waypoint” so the beam stays on screen while you travel.

Head south and southeast across the volcanic ground, running and gliding past the lava lakes and ruined arches. Pick up the paved stone road that curves through the ruins and stay on it.

Follow the road into the cavern tunnel. The HUD compass labels the area MINE as you step inside, which confirms you are in the right place.

Find the rough, multicoloured vein set into the cavern wall and hit it with your pickaxe until it is gone. A blue outline appears around the chunk you are targeting, and one full node yields 25 Celestium Ore.

Celestium also shows up as a glowing, circular blue vein in the floor of caves above Ancient Gate, so check the ground as well as the walls.

Other Celestium Ore spots near Ancient Gate

The mines to the right of Ancient Gate connect three more Celestium deposits through two elevators and a lava cave. They work well as a loop if one vein is not enough.

SpotHow to reach itEnemiesCelestium
Top of first elevatorPath from the altar ledge3 Ancients2 chunks
Mine above second elevatorElevator or slope beside itScorpion-like AncientsLarge vein cluster
Lava caveDownhill past respawn point, right forkNone required2 large veins

The mine above the second elevator holds the most ore, and the loot around its entrance also drops Archaic Shards and Gold Ore. To reach the lava cave, leave that mine to the left, run down the path to the respawn point and activate it, then take the narrow path on the right. Inside the cave, take the right branch and jump across the lava to reach both veins. If you are short on time, skip the first elevator, since it only holds two chunks.

Celestium Ore also comes as a reward from the quest Gathering Celestium.

How to confirm you picked up Celestium Ore

Open your backpack and look under Materials. Celestium Ore is listed as a Level 45, Common item with Cinder’s Cradle as its source. The first pickup also teaches you the Celestium Bars recipe, which then appears at the Blast Furnace.

Celestium Ore, Celestium Bars and Blast Furnace values

These are the figures to keep in mind while farming and smelting. Both materials stack to 250, so five full veins fill a single slot.

Celestium Ore carries a short description about meteorite impacts seeding huge deposits deep inside Cinder’s Cradle, which explains why the veins sit in caves rather than out on the surface.

Smelting Celestium Ore into Celestium Bars

Raw ore must be processed before it can become gear. Put 20 Celestium Ore and 40 Coal into a Blast Furnace to get 20 Celestium Bars. Each ore therefore yields one bar, provided you keep a two-to-one Coal supply in storage. Coal is primarily mined in Albaneve Summits. Charcoal produced by a Charcoal Kiln is a separate item and cannot be used instead.

If you do not have a Blast Furnace yet, you unlock it by picking up Bellows, then craft it through the Blacksmith. The usual recipe calls for 20 Fired Bricks, 1 Bellows, 10 Lump of Clay, 10 Iron Bars and 30 Sand, and Cinder’s Cradle Sand works in place of regular Sand. The furnace has to be built under a roof.

Celestium Bars go into a long list of late-game crafts, including weapons like the Dragon Sword and Draconian Bow, armor sets such as Crestflame and Emberguard, the Celestium Pickaxe and Celestium Axe, Eternal-tier spells, Flame Altar upgrades, and Ancient and Golden building pieces. Celestium Ore itself is also used directly in the Ancient Beacon Block. A single cleared vein covers one batch with five ore to spare, so plan on a few runs to the Ancient Gate mines before you start a full gear set.
