Where to Find the Puppet Testing Grounds Bell in Phantom Blade Zero (Village of Lu)

During Chapter 1’s main quest HEARTLESS REMNANTS, travel to the Village of Lu. Descend through the well into the caves to reach the arena for YUZAN, NO. 3 MUSICIAN PUPPET. The crane statue at its center serves as the bell. After defeating Yuzan, approach the crane to bring up an E prompt.

Ringing the Puppet Testing Grounds bell

Using E for the first time refills Soul’s health, so stop here after the Yuzan battle.

Press E a second time and Soul sits down next to the crane. A flashback starts right away.

In the flashback, a sword and an incense burner rest on a table. Zuo Shang asks Mu Tianmiao about the old battle that wiped out the Long Clan and the Bastion of Mo, the victory that secured the Order’s place in the Wulin. Mu Tianmiao would rather not go back to it. Those battles took his two closest friends from him.

He still lays out the history. The Long Clan led the righteous path, the Bastion of Mo gathered the unorthodox, and the two fought endlessly. The Order was created to close that old split between good and evil in the Wulin. For ten years after both clans fell, it removed every trace of them. Zuo Shang fears the clans’ ideals could still erode the Order’s rules. Mu Tianmiao replies that the clans fell because the line between good and evil is easy to cross, and that the Order endures only as long as its rules do.

When the scene ends, the day counter changes. The counter reads “Days Remaining:59” with “-1” beside it, then settles on “Days Remaining:58”.

What the bell unlocks

You can confirm the bell is active on the Village of Lu map. A “Puppet Testing Grounds” label now appears there, close to the “Beneath the Well” label, and the map reads “Map Completion : 46%”.

How to leave Yuzan’s arena

The exit is a short walk downhill that takes about 10 seconds.

Find the wooden gate at a corner of the arena. Beyond it you can see a corridor of puppets lit in red.

Go through the gate and follow the sloped path down. It runs past a rock wall lit red.

At the bottom, step onto the floor of the muddy basin beneath the timber scaffolding. You crossed this same basin while traveling from the Beneath the Well bell.

There is no way back along this route: the rock ledge at the bottom is too steep to climb. To reach the arena again, rest at any bell, then use Traverse to travel to the Puppet Testing Grounds bell.
