Quick answer: Finish Ledger of Atonement in the Mountain of Imprisonment to get the key. It opens a courtyard gate in the Pangzhen backstreets, about 99 m from the Old Man Gen’s House bell.
Where to get the Backstreet Courtyard Key
Both choices still give you the key. If you fight Chen Zhu, the key drops when you defeat him. If you let him go, the puppet next to him hands it to you.
Finishing the tale gives you three rewards:
- Bloodstained Necklace
- Sha-Chi Amber Shard
- Backstreet Courtyard Key
Chen Zhu’s story continues in a follow-up tale, Bai Xue.
Backstreet Courtyard Key item card
The item card reads:
A small key left behind by the Maskwalker, Chen Zhu. It doesn’t seem to have been used much.
Opens the gate to a courtyard in Pangzhen’s backstreets.
What it opens
Find the courtyard gate in the Pangzhen backstreets and unlock it with the key. From the bell at Old Man Gen’s House, the gate is about 99 m away and roughly 8 m higher.
You can tell which gate it is by the key lock. For the game’s other locks, check the full list of Phantom Blade Zero keys. For what else is in this district, see the Pangzhen collectibles.
