Quick answer: Pick whichever you like. “She’s no longer with us” and “She’s still alive, but hiding” only change a few lines, and the talk carries on the same way after either one.
Where the choice happens

“She’s no longer with us”
If Soul chooses honesty, he tells Yu’er’s father that she has died. Her father says she visited him in a dream to bid farewell, and he wishes the vision had been nothing more than a dream.
“She’s still alive, but hiding”
If Soul chooses the other response, he says Yu’er is alive and hiding beyond the town. Her father appreciates the gesture, but shows he understands that she is dead; Soul’s story doesn’t convince him.
What happens next: The Blessed Jade Pendant
Her father recounts the town’s fate: two years earlier, people who drank well water started falling asleep and failed to wake. Seven or eight days ago, the entire population suffered the same fate. Faceless men then appeared, keeping watch over those who remained awake. He asks Soul to rescue the town and take revenge for his daughter.
Next, he hands Soul a jade pendant that once belonged to Yu’er’s mother. It is the family’s sole remaining possession of value. The item shows up in your inventory as the Blessed Jade Pendant, described on its card as follows:
“A simple jade pendant. Though the jade itself is not of the finest quality, it bears a smooth, lustrous sheen, as though imbued with spirit. After his wife passed away, Yu’er’s father kept it close at all times. Now, he has entrusted it to Soul.”
Your answer in this scene also has no effect on which ending you get.
When her father dies instead
The speaker is named “Yu’er’s body controlled by the Herald”, and her father ends up dead on a bench. Press E on his body to read this text:
“A corpse with a look of terror. A faint, murky hue clouds its eyes. The strange flower from before seems to have claimed its life.”
