Every upgrade in Cut a Rock runs on one cycle. You mine raw rocks, cut them into finished materials on your plot’s Rock Cutter, sell them for cash, and then spend that cash on a faster machine, bigger pockets, better eyesight, and stronger pickaxes. Each early upgrade costs a few thousand dollars, and a single Uncommon rock can sell for more than $10K. That means you can make big gains in your first few minutes if you buy things in the right order.
Quick answer: Upgrade the Rock Cutter to Level 2 for $2.5K first, then buy Eyesight Level 3 ($7K), Pocket Level 3 ($10K), and the Iron Pickaxe ($12K).
Where Cut a Rock upgrades are sold
All upgrades are sold in three places. Two are stalls in the central hub, and the third is the cutting machine on your own plot. Two keys get you around quickly. F sends you to Spawn, and Q takes you Home to your plot. The hub also has two leaderboards, Index and Power, that rank players by how many materials they have collected and how strong their pickaxe is.

- Upgrade stall: Pocket capacity and Eyesight.
- Pickaxes stall: new pickaxes, bought with cash or Robux.
- Rock Cutter on your plot: machine level, which sets how long each cut takes.
- Sell stall: the green-and-white booth where you turn cut materials into cash.

Before you spend anything, stop at the Free Gift board in the hub. It asks you to like the game, favorite it, and join the Duality Works community group. In return, it lists two buffs, 2x AFK Speed and 2x Power. Walk up to the sign and press E to open it.

Add to Google Preferences →Earning upgrade cash: the mine, cut, and sell loop
Your cash comes from finished materials, not raw rocks, so every upgrade starts with this loop. In Room 1, the mine shows its drop odds on screen. Common rocks spawn 85% of the time, Uncommon rocks 15%, and the Nova Prism 0.1%. Each rock floats a label above it showing its rank, so you can spot Uncommon rocks from a distance.
E to pick it up. It goes into your pocket inventory, which holds only a small number of rocks until you upgrade it.Q to go Home, or run back through the hub. Your plot is where the Rock Cutter sits, and it is also where your cash total and resources are shown.

[E] Place Rock prompt at the Rock Cutter, pick the rock in the ROCK CUTTER menu, and press CUT. A Level 1 machine takes 30 seconds on an Uncommon rock.
Ready! (E), walk up and use the Cut Stone Collect prompt to take the finished material. A pop-up tells you what you got. The first time you cut a new material, it also says New material! and shows your progress toward that set, such as 2/5.
E at the [E] Sell Rocks prompt. The cash appears in your total right away and is ready to spend at any upgrade stall.
Uncommon rocks are worth far more than Common ones. The table below shows real sale prices from early runs.
| Material | Rank | Sold for |
|---|---|---|
| Petalstone | Uncommon | $5.73K |
| Sakura Cascade | Uncommon | $10.36K |
| Sakura Spirit | Uncommon | $12.46K |
| Seashell and Rust Gear (four items) | Common | $4.88K total |
The sale amount appears to grow with your total cash, so the same material can sell for more later on. Either way, one Uncommon rock can pay for any of the first four upgrades by itself.
Rock Cutter machine upgrades: costs and cut times
The Rock Cutter decides how long you wait between mining and selling, so it is the first upgrade worth buying. You upgrade it from the machine itself on your plot, not at a hub stall. The panel shows the current level as Cutting Machine (Lv. 1), and that label changes to Lv. 2 once the upgrade goes through.
| Upgrade | Cost | Uncommon cut | Common cut |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 (start) | — | 30s | — |
| Level 1 to 2 | $2.5K | 6s | 1s |
| Level 2 to 3 | $20K | — | — |
The Level 2 upgrade costs $2.5K and cuts Uncommon rocks five times faster, dropping each cut from 30 seconds to 6. Common rocks take just one second. At that speed, the cutter is never what slows you down. Your trip to the mine is.

Level 3 costs $20K, a big jump from Level 2. With your first few sales, Pocket and Eyesight are better buys, so come back for Level 3 once those are done.

Pocket and Eyesight upgrades at the Upgrade stall
The Upgrade stall in the hub sells two player stats. Go up to the counter and press E to open it. Pocket adds one carrying slot per level. Eyesight adds +1 sight per level. Costs rise quickly with each level, as the table shows.

| Stat | Level change | Effect | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 3 | +1 slot | $10K | |
| 3 to 4 | +1 slot | $100K | |
| Eyesight | 2 to 3 | +1 sight | $7K |
| Eyesight | 3 to 4 | +1 sight | $49K |
Pocket Level 3 lets you carry three rocks at once. Each trip to Room 1 now brings back three rocks instead of fewer, and with a Level 2 cutter, all three are cut in seconds when you get home. Eyesight Level 3 is cheaper at $7K. The next level of each stat costs much more, with Pocket Level 4 at $100K and Eyesight Level 4 at $49K. Treat those as goals for later, after you have a stronger pickaxe.
Pickaxe upgrades and power multipliers
Pickaxes add to your Power through a multiplier, and Power is what the Power leaderboard in the hub ranks. Early on, you hold the Copper Pickaxe, which has a x150 multiplier. The Iron Pickaxe is the first one you can buy. It costs $12K (or 80 Robux) and raises your multiplier to x1.1K, more than seven times the Copper Pickaxe.

To buy one, walk to the stall under the PICKAXE sign and press E. The menu lists every tier in order, with its multiplier, its cash price, and its Robux price if it has one. Your new pickaxe is equipped as soon as you buy it, and your avatar holds the new tool in hand.

The full catalog runs for 33 tiers, from Stone to Infinity Reign. Three of them, Amethyst Pickaxe, Void Rift, and Lunar Judgment, can only be bought with cash.
| Pickaxe | Power | Cash | Robux |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stone Pickaxe | x20 | — | — |
| Copper Pickaxe | x150 | — | — |
| Iron Pickaxe | x1.1K | $12K | 80 |
| Golden Pickaxe | x7.8K | $46K | 92 |
| Emerald Pickaxe | x57K | $180K | 106 |
| Crystal Pickaxe | x410K | $690K | 122 |
| Shadow Pickaxe | x3M | $2.7M | 140 |
| Magma Pickaxe | x22M | $11M | 161 |
| Amethyst Pickaxe | x160M | $41M | — |
| Obsidian Pickaxe | x1.2B | $160M | 214 |
| Sapphire Pickaxe | x8.6B | $630M | 246 |
| Vinebloom Pickaxe | x63B | $2.4B | 283 |
| Opal Pickaxe | x460B | $9.5B | 325 |
| Toxic Pickaxe | x3.3T | $37B | 374 |
| Cyber Striker | x24T | $140B | 430 |
| Quantum Core | x180T | $560B | 495 |
| Divine Halo | x1.3Qa | $2.2T | 569 |
| Void Rift | x9.5Qa | $8.6T | — |
| Glacial Star | x69Qa | $34T | 753 |
| Demon Spike | x510Qa | $130T | 866 |
| Moonstone | x200Qi | $7.8Qa | 1317 |
| Chrono Gear | x1.4Sx | $30Qa | 1515 |
| Rainbow Prism | x10Sx | $120Qa | 1742 |
| Reaper’s Lantern | x77Sx | $460Qa | 2003 |
| Shogun’s Wrath | x4.1Sp | $7Qi | 2649 |
| Bloodthorn | x30Sp | $27Qi | 3047 |
| Crystal Sanctum | x220Sp | $110Qi | 3504 |
| Pharaoh’s Curse | x1.6Oc | $410Qi | 4030 |
| Crimson Howl | x12Oc | $1.6Sx | 4634 |
| Soul Sovereign | x84.99Oc | $6.3Sx | 5330 |
| Lunar Judgment | x33No | $25Sx | — |
| Timebreaker | x240No | $1.5Sp | 9322 |
| Infinity Reign | x1.8Dc | $5.7Sp | 10720 |
For most of the list, the multiplier goes up by about seven times at each step, while the cash price goes up by about four times. So each new pickaxe gives you more power per dollar than the last. That is why the Golden Pickaxe at $46K is a sensible next target once the early upgrades are done.

Best early upgrade order in Cut a Rock
The four early upgrades add up to $31.5K. A few Uncommon rocks will cover all of it. Buy them in this order so each one makes the next one quicker to afford.
Cutting Machine (Lv. 2).

After those four buys, the next targets are Rock Cutter Level 3 at $20K and the Golden Pickaxe at $46K. Keep hunting Uncommon rocks in Room 1 to pay for them, since one good Uncommon cut still covers more than a full trip of Common rocks.
