Fortnite OG The Unvaulting Event Start Time and Countdown (June 14)

The Loot Lake vault opens June 14, and the community vote decides which item returns for the rest of the OG season.

The Loot Lake vault opens June 14, and the community vote decides which item returns for the rest of the OG season.

The Unvaulting Event brings the Loot Lake vault back to Fortnite OG, and it runs as a one-time live moment where players vote together to return a single vaulted item to the loot pool. The runes that have been drifting toward the vault across Season 8 lead directly into this event, and it goes live on Sunday, June 14.

Quick answer: Load into a Fortnite OG match before 1:55 PM ET (5:55 PM UTC) on June 14. Damage is turned off shortly before that time, so being in a lobby early guarantees you a spot to vote.

Release time: Sunday, June 14 at 1:55 PM ET (5:55 PM UTC)

The Unvaulting Event start time in your time zone

The event triggers at the same moment everywhere, so the only difference is your local clock. Treat the listed time as the start of the live sequence, not the moment to log in. Get into a match a few minutes earlier, since queues fill up and a server entry is not guaranteed once the countdown is close to zero.

How to join the event before it starts

Open Fortnite OG and queue into a standard match well ahead of 1:55 PM ET. All damage is disabled in the lead-up to the event, which keeps every participant alive long enough to take part.
Head to the vault at Loot Lake. A countdown timer appears there on the day and shows exactly when the vault door will open.
Once the door opens, enter the vault to be pulled into the In-Between, where the voting takes place. If you are already inside a live match when the event begins, the servers let you continue without a fresh queue.

What happens during The Unvaulting Event

The sequence mirrors the original Chapter 1 version. After the vault opens and players reach the In-Between, the community votes by striking the pillar holding their chosen item with a pickaxe. The item with the most votes returns to the OG loot pool for the rest of the season. The outcome is decided entirely by the players in attendance.

The six items up for the vote are:

  • Drum Gun
  • Bounce Pads
  • Grappler
  • Infinity Blade
  • X-4 Stormwing Plane
  • Tactical Submachine Gun

Once the votes are locked in, the volcano near Sunny Steps erupts and wipes out several points of interest, including Tilted Towers. Those map changes and the returned item stay in place until the next OG season begins on June 24.

Note: Unlike most live events, there is no downtime afterward. You can keep playing Fortnite OG as normal as soon as the event wraps up.

The simplest way to confirm you are in the right place is the on-screen countdown at Loot Lake. When it reaches zero, the vault door opens and the event begins, so as long as you are alive in a match and standing near the vault by then, you will be taken into the In-Between to cast your vote.
