The Banner of Banners is a Chapter 4 main quest in Gothic 1 Remake that asks you to assemble an Ulu-Mulu, a sacred orc standard that lets you enter the orc enclave. The work breaks into two parts. First you gather four creature parts, then you carry them to Tarrok, an orc smith held captive in the Free Mine, who turns them into the finished banner.
Quick answer: Collect a Fire Lizard tongue, a Great Shadowbeast horn, Swampshark Mother teeth, and Troll tusks, deliver all four to Tarrok deep inside the Free Mine, then defeat him in the duel he challenges you to and loot the Ulu-Mulu from his body.

How to start The Banner of Banners in Gothic 1 Remake
The quest opens in Chapter 4 once you finish A Shaman Shunned. Speak with Ur-Shak at the castle ruins, and he explains that an Ulu-Mulu is required to reach the orc enclave. That conversation begins The Banner of Banners.
Ur-Shak tells you the standard can only be built by his friend Tarrok, who is being held in the Free Mine. Do not head straight there. Tarrok needs the four creature parts before he can make anything, so gather those first.

Four monster trophies feed the ritual. Each comes from a specific creature, and you loot the part directly from its body after the kill. The table below lists where to find each one.
| Ingredient | Where to get it |
|---|---|
| Fire Lizard tongue | Loot a Great Fire Lizard around orc territory. |
| Great Shadowbeast horn | Loot the Great Shadowbeast by the waterfall west of the Old Mine. |
| Troll tusks | Loot a Great Troll in Troll Canyon, where you earlier collected the Focus. |
| Swampshark Mother teeth | Loot the Swampshark Mother in the waters southeast of the Swamp Camp. |
The Great Shadowbeast horn is the toughest of the four to secure. If that fight gives you trouble, pick up a Summon Golem scroll from Xardas before you attempt it.

Fire Lizard tongue location
Great Fire Lizards roam across orc territory, and the tongue drops from one after you kill it. Fire-resistant gear can help, but it is not required. Move in close, step back when the lizard winds up its fire breath, then close the gap for melee strikes once the breath ends.
There is also a Great Fire Lizard near the tower Diego marks during The Water Mages’ Plan, which is a convenient option if you are working through that quest.

Great Shadowbeast horn location
The Great Shadowbeast waits by the waterfall just west of the Old Mine. This is the hardest part of the quest, so the simplest approach is to bring help. Buy a Summon Golem scroll from Xardas and let the golem soak the beast’s attacks while you deal damage.
The Summon Golem scroll costs 15 mana to cast. If your maximum mana is below that, eat a mana-restoring herb such as a Trollbane Nettle right before you cast, so the regeneration tops you up to the threshold.
Fighting solo is possible but demanding. The horn attack lands almost instantly and hits hard, though the beast rarely uses it twice in a row. Parry its swipes and horn strikes, then answer with a full combo. You can also wait out its bucking attack, back up just far enough to dodge it, and hit toward the head while the beast is out of control.

Troll tusks location
The tusks come from a troll in Troll Canyon, the same area you crossed to recover the Focus. This enemy is far less dangerous than the Great Shadowbeast, but it still hits hard, and even blocked blows can knock you down and leave you exposed. Focus on parrying its attacks, then follow each successful parry with a full combo.

Swampshark Mother teeth location
The Swampshark Mother swims in the water at the southeast corner of the swamp, southeast of the Swamp Camp. This is one of the easier parts to collect because the creature’s attacks are slow and easy to read. You may have to clear a few regular Swampsharks in the area while you search for the mother.

How to find Tarrok in the Free Mine
With all four parts in hand, travel to the Free Mine at the back of the New Camp. Pass the Residential Cave and follow the path up and to the left, then turn left just before the waterfall. On the way you will meet Wolf, who can start The Minecrawler Armor side quest, and Gorn, who can start Recovering the Free Mine.

How to get through the Free Mine

How to reach Tarrok’s cell
At the water, climb the stone ledges on your left and follow the path into a room holding more Minecrawlers. Two cells sit in that room, and Tarrok is locked in the one on the right. Open the cell, talk to the orc, and hand over all four ingredients.

How to get the Ulu-Mulu
After you give Tarrok the parts, wait for him to assemble the standard. The work is quick. Once he finishes, he challenges you to a fight, and you must defeat him and loot the Ulu-Mulu from his body. This duel is much easier than the monster fights you completed for the ingredients.
The Banner of Banners is marked complete the moment you pick up the Ulu-Mulu. With the standard in your inventory, you can now approach the orc enclave and continue the Chapter 4 main story.
