The Genji Gloves are an accessory you find in Chapter 1 of Final Fantasy Resonance, and you lose them almost immediately. Opening their chest in Chapter 1 starts a fight with Gilgamesh, who takes the gloves and leaves. Getting them back means following him across several chapters and beating him properly.
Quick answer: Gilgamesh always takes the Genji Gloves in Siren’s Tower in Chapter 1, whether you win the fight or not. You get them back by meeting him at Waterfall Way and then beating him on the airship, where he appears from Chapter 5 (not always on the first visit). The Genji Gloves are not missable.
Where the Genji Gloves are in Siren’s Tower
The chest is in Chapter 1, “Tailing the Truth”. If you still need to reach the entrance, start with Siren’s Tower. Once inside, climb to the top of the third floor and take the long corridor north into the second area of the tower, where it opens into a hall with two lit pillars.
The chest is at the corridor’s northernmost point, where the passage joins the hall, before the raised platform.

Open it and the game awards “Genji Gloves x1”.

The moment the gloves are yours, a voice cuts in with “Hold it right there, cur!” and follows it with “Only the mightiest of mighty have the right to don those Genji Gloves! They’ll be wasted on scrawny knaves such as you two!”

Gilgamesh declares, “Here’s Gilgamesh, in the flesh!” Combat follows, and escape is impossible.

Using Libra on him in this fight shows the following:
- Gilgamesh Lv 11, 6,000 HP
- Type: Humanoid, with no elemental weakness
- Trait: “Difficult to stagger.”
- No item drops
- Stealable item: Ether

Midway through the battle, he uses a move and the screen reads “Genji Gloves stolen!”

From there, the fight wraps itself up with “I suppose you’ve all learned your lesson for today. This is where I bid you adieu!” No Battle Result screen follows. Gilgamesh reappears on a ledge and won’t return the gloves, telling you “What I’ve rightfully stolen is mine! And what’s mine is mine!”

He leaves with “Bye-onara, Rain!” and jumps off. The result is the same whether you win or lose. You always lose the gloves here, and the Accessories tab of the Items menu no longer lists them.

How to get the Genji Gloves back
Recovering the gloves takes two required meetings with Gilgamesh and one optional one. They come in this order.
On Normal, the airship Gilgamesh is Lv 40 with 90,000 HP and the trait “Extremely difficult to stagger.” He summons a Cactuar, a Tonberry and a Bomb during the battle. This fight is far stronger than the one in Siren’s Tower, so go in well levelled and ready to deal with the Tonberry.
Winning pays 10,000 EXP and 12,000 Gil. Afterwards, Gilgamesh hands the gloves back with “I promised that I would give them to you once you were stronger, did I not?” That line is your confirmation that the Genji Gloves are back in your inventory. For all three fights in detail, see every Gilgamesh fight.

Are the Genji Gloves missable?
No. Gilgamesh always takes them in Siren’s Tower, but you can still follow him via Waterfall Way and later aboard the airship from Chapter 5; story progression never closes that route. You will miss out on owning them only if you never defeat him on the airship. For other items available for a more limited time, consult the missables rundown.
What the Genji Gloves do
The Genji Gloves are an accessory with the effect “Increases critical hit rate by 50%.” They sell for 8,750 Gil, and no shop stocks them. The full accessories list shows how they compare with other slots.

Beating Gilgamesh on the airship also leads into his next quest, “Battle at the Big Bridge”, which ends with a fight on the Kolobos Bridge. That fight rewards the Genji Armor, whose effect is “Increases stagger power and damage dealt by 15% upon dealing a critical hit.” Because the armor triggers on critical hits and the gloves raise how often you land them, the two work well together. The Kolobos Bridge encounter sits alongside the rest of the game’s major fights in the bosses list.
