FloweryScarf in Deltarune Chapter 5: Why the +70 Weapon Is Useless

The scarf with the strongest stats in the game can never be equipped, making it a permanent dead item.

The scarf with the strongest stats in the game can never be equipped, making it a permanent dead item.

The FloweryScarf looks like the best weapon in Deltarune. It carries +70 to Attack, Defense, and Magic, plus a hidden “TheBest” property. Yet you will never get a single point of benefit from it. The scarf is built for Ralsei, and Ralsei refuses to wear it.

Quick answer: FloweryScarf cannot be equipped by anyone. Ralsei resents Flowery and won’t put it on, so its huge stats never apply. Treat it as a non-functional item.

FloweryScarf stats and weapon details

FloweryScarf is classified as a scarf, which is Ralsei’s weapon type. It appears in Chapter 5 of Deltarune and uses weapon ID 34. On paper, its numbers dwarf every other scarf in the game.

The Check text reads: “A scarf which says ‘I <3 Flowery’ on it. It’s the perfect size for Ralsei.” The size is right, and the stats are absurd, but the design of the item is the joke. It is the love of Flowery written across fabric, and that is exactly why it stays in your inventory unused.

Why Ralsei won’t equip the FloweryScarf

Flowery is a Darkner from the Flower King and the main antagonist of Chapter 5. Ralsei opposes him and resents him, so a scarf branded with affection for Flowery is something Ralsei will not accept. Because the scarf is locked to Ralsei’s weapon slot and Ralsei declines it, no character can put the stats to work.

The game makes this rejection explicit through unique flavor text whenever you try to equip it:

Equip attemptResponse
On Susie“Nah, that’s for Ralsei.”
On Ralsei“I, um… it, it doesn’t fit!”
On Noelle (unused)“Who the heck is Flowery?”

Susie won’t take it because it belongs to Ralsei. Ralsei dodges it with a polite excuse. Noelle’s line exists in the files but is never seen in normal play. The end result is the same in every case: the scarf stays unequipped.

A deliberate dead weapon, like the BrokenSwd

FloweryScarf is the second item designed so that it cannot be equipped, despite reading like gear. The first was the BrokenSwd. Both items present themselves as weapons but are intentionally unusable, so don’t expect a workaround or a hidden condition that unlocks them.

Note: The +70 across all stats and the “TheBest” tag are real values attached to the item, but they only matter once a weapon is actually worn. Since that never happens, the scarf behaves as inert.

What to do with the FloweryScarf

There is no combat use to recover. You can keep it as a curiosity or sell it. Its sell value is just 1 D$, so off-loading it returns almost nothing. Holding onto it costs nothing either, since it occupies a slot without doing harm.

If you were hoping the strongest-looking scarf in Deltarune would carry Ralsei through Chapter 5, plan around your other gear instead. The FloweryScarf is a gag built on Ralsei’s feelings toward Flowery, and its impressive numbers are part of the joke rather than a reward you can claim.
