Sprites are back in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 as a core part of a match, floating alongside you as a Back Bling and handing out passive perks that change how you fight, heal, and rotate. Unlike their Chapter 6 debut, you now have to physically track them down on the map and carry them to safety before they count toward your collection.
Quick answer: Open Sprite Chests around the map to find a Sprite, then carry it to an Extraction Site (marked by a white icon and a beam of light) and complete the extraction. Once extracted, the Sprite is saved to your collection for future matches.

How getting a Sprite works this season
A Sprite does not go straight into your inventory the moment you grab it. You have to survive with it and get it out of the match. If you are eliminated while carrying one, it drops and becomes free for whoever takes you down, so the risk stays live until extraction is done.

Summoning a saved Sprite costs Sprite Dust, a currency that also powers your Sprite up between matches. The amount you spend scales with rarity, so higher-tier Sprites demand more Dust to bring out.
Tip: Turn on Visualized Sounds so the HUD points you toward a nearby Sprite Chest, and consider hunting in Zero Build, where the regular Shockwave Grenade makes crossing the map to extraction sites much faster.

There are four rarities to chase: Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Higher rarity means a stronger passive. The elemental Rare Sprites (Earth, Fire, Water, and the new Fishy) are the easiest to run into, while the Mythics are the rarest pickups in the game.
| Sprite | Rarity | Passive |
|---|---|---|
| Earth Sprite | Rare | Chance to find extra rare items when opening chests. |
| Fire Sprite | Rare | Creates a fiery burst after enough damage to an enemy. |
| Water Sprite | Rare | Restores shield in water for you and nearby Squad. |
| Fishy Sprite (New) | Rare | Faster swim speed and a movement boost when damaged. |
| Duck Sprite | Epic | Emoting or Jamming restores shields. |
| Ghost Sprite | Epic | Grants a temporary cloak on reload. |
| Demon Sprite | Epic | Siphons health and shields on elimination. |
| King Sprite | Epic | Pickaxe deals more damage. |
| Striker Sprite (New) | Epic | Grants Overdrive each time you Mantle or Hurdle. |
| Boss Sprite (New) | Epic | Large boost to max Health and Shield. |
| Aura Sprite (New) | Epic | Grants a Shock Rock charge after set damage. |
| Dream Sprite | Legendary | Random item at each level, legendary loot at Max Level. |
| Punk Sprite | Legendary | Occasional unlimited-ammo buff. |
| The Burnt Peanut | Mythic | Low chance for extra loot from eliminations. |
| Zero Point Sprite | Mythic | Spawns a Shield Bubble Jr. when you heal yourself. |
| Grim Reaper Sprite (New) | Mythic | Automatically marks any enemy who damages you. |

Where Sprites spawn and where to find variants
All Sprites come from Sprite Chests, which pop up at random across the map. Beyond the standard versions, almost every Sprite (except the Mythic The Burnt Peanut) can appear as one of four special variants. Variants keep the same passive but add an extra utility buff.
| Variant | Bonus buff |
|---|---|
| Gold | Bonus XP for each elimination. |
| Gummy | 10% more Sprite Dust earned on extraction. |
| Galaxy | 20% more ammo from ammo boxes. |
| Holofoil | Squad gets a 5% higher chance to find rare Sprite variants in chests. |
Variant odds are extremely low, and nothing is guaranteed, but certain Sprites lean toward certain parts of the map. The percentages below are the drop odds, and the locations are where you have the best (still not certain) shot.
| Variant Sprite | Odds | Best place to look |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Sprites | 0.12% | Urban spots on the map. |
| Earth Sprites | 0.12% | Forest areas and near trees. |
| Water & Fishy Sprites | 0.12% | Around water bodies and beaches. |
| Duck Sprites | 0.045% | In and around the vault in Sinister Strip. |
| Ghost Sprites | 0.045% | Only found at night. |
| Demon & King Sprites | 0.045% | Rare drops from Sprite Chests. |
| Dream Sprites | 0.045% | Rare drops from Sprite Chests and Storage chests. |
| Boss, Striker & Aura Sprites | 0.045% | Rare drops from Sprite Chests and Vaults. |
| Punk Sprites | 0.021% | Rare drops from Sprite Chests. |
| Zero Point & Grim Reaper Sprites | 0.009% | Rare drops from Sprite Chests. |

Why a Sprite might not be counting toward your collection
You know a Sprite is yours only once the extraction completes and it shows up in your collection between matches. If it never lands there, one of these is usually the reason.
- You were eliminated before reaching an Extraction Site, so the Sprite dropped for another player.
- You grabbed a Sprite but never started or finished an extraction before the match ended.
- You are in a bot lobby. A hotfix limits these matches to Water, Fire, and Earth Sprites only, so the rarer ones will not appear there.
If you would rather not grind the odds, Sprites can also change hands through community trading, which is how many players close out the Zero Point and Gold entries in their collection. Otherwise, keep opening Sprite Chests, prioritize the nearest beam of light, and get every catch to extraction before someone takes it off your hands.
