Holofoil Sprites are the top rarity tier for Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 3 Sprite system, and their appeal is mostly mechanical. Each one carries a shiny redesign of an existing Sprite, but the reason players chase them is a passive buff that raises your whole squad’s chance of pulling more rare Sprites from chests.

Holofoil Sprites release time by region

The Holofoil variant rolls out on New Sprite Day, following the same reset window Epic Games has used all season. Expect it around 6 AM PT, with the exact local time depending on your region.

Note: The Holofoil models briefly appeared early when a Rift anomaly switched on unreleased Sprites. Those were pulled back out, so July 9 is the real live date.

What the Holofoil buff does

Every Holofoil Sprite keeps the base ability of its original version. The Zero Point Sprite still drops shield bubbles, and the Grim Reaper Sprite still marks enemies, for example. On top of that base ability, the Holofoil rarity adds one shared effect.

Carrying any Holofoil variant grants your entire squad a flat 5% chance to find rare Sprite variants when you loot chests. That number looks small, but it applies to every chest you open, so it compounds fast across a busy landing spot. It also outperforms other recent rarities: the Gem Sprite only cuts fall damage by 30%, and the Gummy Sprite just yields extra ammo.

Because the buff is squad-wide, a full four-player squad each holding a Holofoil could stack the effect for a much larger boost, making the rarest Sprites far easier to chase once your team has one active.

Where to find every Holofoil Sprite

Holofoil versions drop from the same places as their base Sprites, but at a much lower rate. Some are tied to specific biomes, others to activities, and the largest group comes out of Sprite Chests. If you want the widest spread of variants in the least time, prioritize Sprite Chests.

The exact roster available on day one may be smaller than the full list. Datamined files point to as few as eight Holofoil variants active at launch, with Holofoil models also found for unreleased Sprites like the Air Sprite and Seven Sprite. The lineup can shift as Epic adds files, so treat the table as the full pool rather than a guaranteed launch-day set.

How to secure a Holofoil Sprite before someone steals it

A Holofoil Sprite is only yours once you extract it from the match. The shiny model makes you a visible target, and rival players can take it if they eliminate you, so plan your exit the moment one drops.

You know it worked when the Sprite is extracted and saved to your collection rather than left in the match. If it never reaches you, the usual causes are low spawn rates on the rarer variants and other players reaching the drop first.

Best times to farm Holofoils

Since you need at least one Holofoil before its buff can help you find more, your first pull comes down to luck. Weekend Power Hours raise your odds noticeably, so logging in during those windows is the most reliable way to land your first one.

Epic is also running dedicated Sprite events around launch week. Mastery Monday granted double Sprite XP, New Sprite Day lands on July 9, and Holofoil Hours on Saturday, July 11 increases the chance of finding the Holofoil variant specifically. Once you have a single Holofoil active and its 5% buff running for the squad, tracking down the rest of the set becomes far more manageable.
