Now Hiring Walkthrough in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Now Hiring is the ninth main story mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it kicks off Edward Kenway’s push to build out the Jackdaw’s crew. It becomes available once you wrap up This Tyro Captain in Sequence 3. The setup is simple. It’s September of 1715, Edward is bound for Nassau, and he needs bodies to fill the empty roles on his ship.

Quick answer: Dock at Nassau, head to the Old Avery bar with Adewale, then follow Anne Bonny’s markers to save the pirates the British Red Coats are attacking. After freeing them all, return to Old Avery to trigger the closing cutscene and complete the mission.

Dock at Nassau and reach Old Avery

Steer the Jackdaw to the marked point just outside Nassau and dock it. This starts the mission and plays a short cutscene at the dock.

Make your way to the Old Avery bar alongside Adewale. Inside, Edward tells the assembled pirates that he’s hunting for crew willing to sail with him on the Jackdaw. Once the scene finishes, Adewale heads back to the ship and leaves the recruiting to you.

Rescue the pirates marked by Anne Bonny

The core of Now Hiring is saving pirates from the British Red Coats and pulling them onto your crew. Anne Bonny points you to each group, so work through the markers one at a time.

Reach the closest pirate first. He’s directly across from the bar, so jump down from the railing to close the gap fast, then take out the soldiers on him.

Move to the next marker, where two bound men are being sentenced at the gallows. Kill the Red Coats guarding them and free both to add them to your crew.

Note: During one of these fights you’ll learn to quickfire with R2/RT and Triangle/Y, which is how you deal with Captains and brutes throughout the game.

Stop the execution in time

Right after you free the men at the gallows, an NPC warns you that another pirate is about to be hanged nearby. Rush to the new marker without delay.

As soon as you spot the pirate, shoot the rope to cut him loose before the hanging goes through. Then close in and clear out the handful of Red Coats that swarm you.

Return to Old Avery to finish the mission

With every marked pirate rescued and recruited, head back to the Old Avery bar and interact with the group again. A short conversation about the Observatory plays out, and Now Hiring completes automatically once it ends.

You’ll know it worked when the mission clears and the story rolls forward to Prizes and Plunder, the next main quest in Sequence 3. If the quest doesn’t wrap, check that you actually saved all of the pirates Anne Bonny marked, since any lingering marker keeps the objective open.
