Nightstar Sand is a crafting material in Palworld that only appears in sandy terrain after dark. You cannot craft or synthesize it, so the only way to stock up is to visit the right locations at night and gather it by hand.

Quick answer: Wait for nighttime, travel to a desert or sandy coast such as the Dessicated Desert or Feybreak Island, then walk up to the glowing patches on the ground and interact with them to collect Nightstar Sand.

The night-only condition

The material takes its name from its spawn rule. Nightstar Sand shows up only during the in-game night, and only on sandy ground. During daytime, those same patches stay empty, so there is no point searching until the sun goes down.

Once night falls, the sand appears as small glowing spots scattered across the surface. Approach a glow and press the interact prompt to pick it up. Each spot yields the material directly into your inventory, and the patches respawn on later nights, so you can return to the same area to farm more.

Best places to farm Nightstar Sand

Two regions carry the bulk of the spawns. The Dessicated Desert is the earliest reliable source, while Feybreak Island holds several wide sandy zones packed with glowing spots. Feybreak is home to high-level hostile Pals, so bring gear that can survive the trip.

LocationRegionNotes
PIDF Tower EntranceDessicated DesertFast travel here and gather around the tower, mostly toward the back.
Paladius boss areaDessicated DesertSand spawns near where Paladius and Necromus roam; you can sneak past them if you want to skip the fight.
Withered SeasideEastern Feybreak IslandSand is spread along the shoreline; watch for high-level Pals.
Loess PlainsSouthern Feybreak IslandA small, easy-to-miss sandy patch near the Loess Plains waypoint.
Scorched AshlandNorthern Feybreak IslandA large open coast; fast travel to the waypoint and collect along its length.
Deserted Ash PlateauWestern Feybreak IslandUse the Deserted Ash Plateau waypoint to reach extra spawns.

Tip: The Scorched Ashland is one of the fastest grinding spots because of how much open sand it covers. Set up your night runs there once you can handle the local Pals.

How to gather it fast

Wait until the in-game clock reaches night. Sleeping in a bed or passing time is the quickest way to skip ahead if it is currently daytime.
Fast travel to a sandy waypoint. The PIDF Tower Entrance in the Dessicated Desert is a strong early pick, while the Scorched Ashland and Deserted Ash Plateau waypoints on Feybreak Island give you more ground to cover.
Scan the ground for glowing spots and interact with each one. Move in a loop around the area so you cover as many patches as possible before daybreak, then fast travel back on the next night to repeat.

You will know the pickup worked when the glow disappears and Nightstar Sand is added to your inventory count. If nothing appears when you reach a sandy zone, it is almost always because it is still daytime.

What Nightstar Sand crafts

The material feeds into several advanced weapons and tools. Keeping a steady supply on hand lets you build and upgrade these once you unlock their recipes.

  • Advanced Bow
  • Legendary Advanced Bow
  • Beam Sword
  • Metal Detector

Because Nightstar Sand cannot be produced at a base and only spawns at night, it is worth banking a surplus whenever you make a desert run. That way you are never blocked from crafting when a recipe calls for it.
