Catch a small fish, then feed it to the wild otter swimming Terrapin Island’s waterways to unlock him.

Ollie Otter is a one-star companion in Fisch that you unlock by feeding a fish to a wild otter swimming around Terrapin Island. Once equipped, he helps you turn up extra loot while you fish, which makes him worth a short detour if you spend real time on the water.

Quick answer: Bring a small fish such as an Anchovy, travel to Terrapin Island, find the otter swimming in the rivers, equip the fish in your hand, and swim next to the otter until it eats the fish. You will see [Companion Unlocked: Ollie Otter] when it works.

What you need before you start

The only real requirement is a fish to feed him. A common, cheap catch works fine, so there is no need to hunt for anything rare.

Tip: Catch the fish first and keep it in your inventory. You will need it equipped in your hand at the moment you reach the otter, so having it ready saves a return trip.

How to catch and unlock Ollie Otter

Catch a small fish in any shallow spot and open your inventory. Filter for the fish name, such as typing “anch” to find an Anchovy, so it is ready to equip.
Board a boat and drive out to Terrapin Island. Watch the location label at the top of the screen change to “Terrapin Island” so you know you have arrived.
Steer through the narrow waterways and look for a small brown otter swimming near the rocks. He moves through the rivers rather than staying put, so keep scanning the water as you go.

Get off your boat, equip the fish so it shows in your hand, and jump into the water near the otter. Swim close and around him, moving and clicking until he reacts with a high-pitched squeak.
The otter takes the fish and you get two notifications, The Ollie Otter gobbled up your Anchovy! followed by [Companion Unlocked: Ollie Otter]. That second message confirms the unlock.

If you already own him, feeding the otter again shows You already have this companion! instead, so there is no penalty for a second attempt.

How to equip Ollie Otter

Open the Companions menu and type “oll” into the search bar to bring up the Ollie Otter card. His description reads, “A curious little otter with a knack for uncovering hidden treasures, always eager to lend a paw… in its own mischievous way.” Press [Equip], and he will appear following you on land.

You can confirm he is active in the same menu, where his entry shows as unlocked and equipped.

What Ollie Otter does when equipped

Ollie’s value is in the loot he turns up. While you fish, he swims out and helps surface extra finds on top of your normal catches, which can mean additional fish or bonus items during a session.

You can see this during the reeling minigame. When Ollie is equipped, he jumps into the water as you reel, and small icons such as a rock or a tombstone appear on the reeling bar to mark treasure. Those finds can lead to chests, and opening one on the dock can hand over rewards like a Shark Whistle.

The boost is steady rather than dramatic. It runs in the background every time you fish with him out, so the payoff builds up over longer sessions rather than from any single catch. If you fish often, he is a solid companion to keep equipped, and he is a cute otter on top of it.
