Sidekicks are companion pets that follow your character around the map, and the Team Jr. style companions are among the most recognizable ones sold in the Item Shop. They pair well with emotes for showcases, but before you can perform any routine with one, you first need to own and equip it.
Quick answer: Get a Sidekick either by unlocking it through a Battle Pass tier or by buying it in the Item Shop for 1,000 to 1,800 V-Bucks, then equip it from your Locker to have it appear in a match.

What Sidekicks are and where they work
Sidekicks are a cosmetic item type introduced in Chapter 6: Mini Season 2. As of June 24th 2026, there are 52 Sidekicks in the game. Unlike a Back Bling, a Sidekick is a moving pet rather than an item worn on your back, and it stays active with you throughout a match.
They are not limited to one mode. You can use a Sidekick across Battle Royale, Save the World, Creative, LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival, so a companion you unlock carries over into most of the experiences you play.

There are several sources for Sidekicks, but the two you will use most often are the Battle Pass and the Item Shop. Other Sidekicks arrive through competitive rewards, promotional offers, and live events.
| Source | How you unlock it |
|---|---|
| Battle Pass | Reach the tier that awards the Sidekick during that season |
| Item Shop | Purchase directly with V-Bucks when it rotates in |
| Competitive | Earn it through tournament rewards |
| Promotional / Live Events | Claim it through a linked offer or in-game event |
Battle Pass Sidekicks include companions such as Bonesy, Scales, Remus, Woodsy, Dodger, Kyo, and Kitsune, each tied to a specific season’s progression track.

Item Shop Sidekick prices
Item Shop Sidekicks are priced between 1,000 and 1,800 V-Bucks, with most licensed and standard pets sitting in the 1,200 to 1,500 range. The Team Jr. line of companions, like Cuddle Team Jr., sells alongside other named pets when it appears in the shop rotation.
| Sidekick | Price (V-Bucks) |
|---|---|
| Leviathan Jr. | 1,000 |
| Bonesy | 1,200 |
| Mothman Jr. | 1,200 |
| Cuddle Team Jr. | 1,500 |
| Doggo Jr. | 1,500 |
| SpongeBob SquarePants | 1,800 |
Prices are fixed per pet and do not change between visits, but availability does. A Sidekick only appears when it rotates into the Item Shop, so if the one you want is not listed, you have to wait for it to return.
Selectable and built-in styles
Some Sidekicks come with unlockable styles you can switch between, letting you change the look of the same pet. Others use a built-in style that is fixed and cannot be altered. You can check which type you have from the item’s page in your Locker.

Equip a Sidekick and pair it with an emote
You know it worked when the pet spawns next to you at the start of the match and stays with you as you move. If it does not appear, confirm that the Sidekick is still selected in the Locker slot rather than left empty.
Because a Sidekick carries across Battle Royale, Creative, and the other modes, once it is equipped, you can reuse the same companion and emote combination anywhere those cosmetics are supported.
