Fortnite: How to Get the Golden Apple (and What It Does)

The Exotic consumable drops only from Produce Boxes, heals 50 HP, and gives you nine seconds of Low Gravity.

The Exotic consumable drops only from Produce Boxes, heals 50 HP, and gives you nine seconds of Low Gravity.

The Golden Apple arrived with the Hot Bat Summer update on July 16, 2026, during Chapter 7 Season 3. It is an Exotic consumable that looks like a shiny gold version of the regular Apple, and despite the flashy rarity tag, it does not fight for you the way the Mythic Goldfish does. Instead, it heals and moves you.

Quick answer: Search Produce Boxes (brown crates with green lids) around the map. The Golden Apple drops randomly and appears gold with a blue glow. Eat it to restore 50 HP and gain Low Gravity for nine seconds.

What the Golden Apple does in Fortnite

When you consume the Golden Apple, it instantly restores 50 Health and applies a Low Gravity effect that lasts up to nine seconds. During that window you jump higher and fall slower, which is handy for reaching rooftops, crossing gaps, or slipping away from a fight. It deals no damage and has no hidden bonus tied to it.

You can eat it even when your Health is already full, so it works as a pure mobility tool and not just an emergency heal. The consume animation takes about a second to finish. You can carry a stack of up to three, and you can throw one toward a teammate to share it.

Where the Golden Apple comes from

As of Update v41.20, the Golden Apple only comes from Produce Boxes. You will not find it in chests, from defeating an NPC, or by spending Gold Bars. Produce Boxes are small cardboard containers that normally drop foraged food like Apples, Peppers, bananas, and coconuts.

Finding one comes down to luck. The Golden Apple has a low drop rate, so most boxes you open will only hold ordinary food. When one does appear, you cannot miss it. The apple pops out gold with a blue hue around it, marking its Exotic rarity.

Because the drop is random, the practical approach is simple. Open as many Produce Boxes as you can before rotating, and land where several food buildings sit close together. Grocery stores, restaurants and cafés, farm buildings, gas stations, and residential kitchens all tend to hold boxes.

Produce Box locations on the Chapter 7 Season 3 island

Produce Boxes have a 100% spawn rate, so they sit in the same spots every match. There are 78 of them across the island. The Battlewoods and Sunken Shores hold the highest concentrations, which makes them the best places to open a lot of boxes quickly. These are also strong spots for Sprite Chests.

One confirmed find happened at the extraction site just south of the Chopped Shop POI, so that stretch is worth a look if you want a starting point. Even so, no single box guarantees the apple, so plan a looting route that chains several boxes in a row.

Is the Golden Apple worth chasing this season?

For most players, no. The drop is rare, the buff is modest, and there are no special rewards for finding one. Hunting Sprites gives you stronger effects and ties into Hot Bat Summer quest progress, so that time is usually better spent. If you want airtime specifically, the Batman Sprite is a stronger pick, with the Striker Sprite as a decent backup, and Launch Pads are scattered across the map.

That said, the Golden Apple is a genuinely useful item to have in your inventory if one lands in your lap. The heal-plus-mobility combo shines in the late game, letting you top up Health and reposition or escape at the same time. Just treat it as a bonus you stumble into while looting, not something to build a whole match around.
