Fortnite Sprite Dust Resummon Costs Cut in the July 24 Hotfix

Variant resummons drop by about a third and base prices fall 10 percent, with the change live and no download required.

Epic Games has quietly lowered the Sprite Dust it takes to resummon a lost Sprite in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. The change went live on July 24 as a server-side hotfix, so there is no patch to download. It mostly targets variants, which had become punishingly expensive to run back after a bad match.

Quick answer: Sprite variant resummons now cost around 33 percent less, and base (non-variant) Epic, Legendary, and Mythic Sprites cost 10 percent less. A Mythic variant that used to run 15,000 Sprite Dust now costs 10,000. Open the Sprites tab in the Lobby to see the new prices immediately.

New Sprite variant resummon costs

Variants took the biggest cut, which is where the pain was worst. The ultra-rare Galaxy Zero Point, a Mythic variant, now costs 10,000 Sprite Dust to bring back instead of 15,000. Here is how every variant tier changed.

RarityOld costNew costReduction
Rare variant4,0002,70032.5%
Epic variant6,0004,00033.3%
Legendary variant10,0006,75032.5%
Mythic variant15,00010,00033.3%

Epic confirmed the direction of the change on its status account, noting the cut was aimed “especially for variants” so players can more easily run one back if it is lost.

New base Sprite resummon costs

Standard, non-variant Sprites got a smaller 10 percent trim on the Epic, Legendary, and Mythic tiers. Rare base Sprites stayed the same because they were already cheap.

How to confirm the change is live

Because this arrived as a hotfix, you do not need to update the client. The new prices apply the next time you load into the game.

Open the Lobby and go to the Sprites tab.
Select a variant Sprite you no longer have equipped and check its resummon price. A Mythic variant should read 10,000 Sprite Dust rather than 15,000.
If you still see the old numbers, fully close and relaunch Fortnite so the client pulls the current server values.

Why the timing matters for Shinier Hours

Resummon costs have been one of the loudest complaints of the season. Losing a Sprite resets it to Level 1 and drops it entirely, and rebuying a rare variant could wipe out tens of thousands of Sprite Dust in a single mistake. Many players simply stopped bringing their best Sprites into matches at all.

The cut lands just before the Shinier Hours Power Hour event on July 25, when special-variant spawn rates get boosted. Cheaper resummons mean you can equip and hunt rare variants during that window with far less risk if one gets picked off. It also helps anyone chasing Sprite Mastery, since mastering a Sprite requires extracting it at max level, and losing it mid-run no longer costs a fortune to recover.

Note: reaction from the community is mixed, with some players arguing 10,000 Sprite Dust for a Mythic variant is still steep this late in the season. For now, though, running back a lost Sprite is meaningfully cheaper than it was a day ago.
