Your fighting style is the single biggest long-term stat in Gakuran because it decides your M1 animations, your special M2 move, your block chip, your grapple odds, and how well your build holds up at different heights. Styles are rolled randomly, and the rarities run from a 59% common all the way down to a 1% Legendary, so the gap between what you start with and what you can end up with is huge. Here is every style, how often it drops, and which ones are worth chasing right now.
Quick answer: Boxing, Wrestling, and Kure are the current meta S-tier. Boxing is the easiest of the three to land at a 10% Epic roll and is the strongest pick on short and medium builds; Wrestling and Kure are 1% Legendaries that reward tall builds and precise timing.
All Gakuran fighting styles and drop chances
There are nine styles you can roll, grouped by rarity. The rarer the style, the lower the odds, and rolling is completely random. You cannot pick a specific style directly.
| Fighting Style | Rarity | Drop Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Common | 59% |
| Slugger | Uncommon | 30% |
| Muay Thai | Uncommon | 30% |
| Karate | Uncommon | 30% |
| Boxing | Epic | 10% |
| Hakari | Epic | 10% |
| Capoeira | Legendary | 1% |
| Wrestling | Legendary | 1% |
| Kure | Legendary | 1% |
Kure is the newest addition, brought in with the July 11, 2026 map update (v7.400). It shares the 1% Legendary bracket with Capoeira and Wrestling.

Three styles sit clearly above the rest in PvP. Boxing, Wrestling, and Kure make up the current top tier, and each one wins for a different reason.
Boxing is the most complete pick and the strongest on shorter, faster builds. Its M2 has invincibility frames and cannot be interrupted, so it can only be parried or dodged. That forces enemies into defensive guesses while your block chip wears them down. Perfect blocks also cut its M2 cooldown, letting you cycle heavy attacks faster than almost anything else once your parry timing is clean.
Wrestling has one of the highest damage ceilings in the game and shines on tall builds. Its M2 grabs an opponent and slams them for 1.5x damage with hyperarmor, so it cannot be stopped unless it is parried or dodged. The catch is that it is skill-based. You bait a dash, then land the grab, and the payoff is brutal.
Kure is considered the meta pick on medium and tall builds because of its M2. It is a headbutt grab that deals 1.5x damage and removes the victim’s ability to parry for two seconds, which opens up combo extensions and heavy pressure. It also gains extra damage at low health, making it dangerous when a fight is close.
Top-tier style perks
| Style | Key perks |
|---|---|
| Boxing (Epic) | Untouchable (M2 iFrames, uninterruptible); Perfect Reflex (perfect block cuts M2 cooldown by 1 second); Guard Pierce III (20% block chip) |
| Wrestling (Legendary) | Takedown (M2 grab slam, 1.5x damage); Heavy Hitter III (+15% guardbreak damage); Guard Pierce II (15% block chip); Resilience V (55% grapple-clash chance) |
| Kure (Legendary) | Last Stand (+15% damage at 25% HP or lower); Takedown (M2 headbutt grab, 1.5x damage); Concussive (M2 slam removes parry for 2 seconds); Guard Pierce II (15% block chip); Resilience I (15% grapple-clash chance) |
If you are stuck in the Epic pool, Boxing and Hakari are both strong. Hakari’s Momentum Rush is the standout: land a full M1 combo without being stunned and your next M2 deals 3x damage for a seven-second window. It has a high skill floor, but the burst is among the best in the game.
The rest of the styles and where they land
| Style | Identity | Notable perks |
|---|---|---|
| Muay Thai | Aggressive pressure, strong on tall builds | Powerful (ragdoll M2); Crushing Force II (+15% posture damage); Guard Pierce V (30% block chip); Resilience V (55% grapple-clash) |
| Karate | Balanced, low-risk, works at most heights | Steady Nerves (+15% posture regen for 3s after a perfect block); Balanced Strike (M2 refunds 25% posture); Guard Pierce II (15% chip); Resilience II (25% grapple-clash) |
| Basic | Default starter, punish-focused | Counterstrike (+5% damage on next hit after a perfect block); Swift Recovery (+15% posture regen); Guard Pierce II (15% chip); Resilience II (25% grapple-clash) |
| Capoeira | Mobility and spacing | Powerful (ragdoll M2); Heavy Hitter I (+5% guardbreak); Guard Pierce II (15% chip); Ginga (25% shorter dash cooldown) |
| Slugger | Glass-cannon trades, highest block chip | Unstable (deal and take 25% more damage); Guard Pierce V (30% block chip, the highest of any style); Resilience III (45% grapple-clash) |
Basic is stronger than its 59% roll suggests. It rewards clean perfect blocks and has solid posture recovery, so there is no rush to reroll away from it while you are still learning parries. Slugger is the riskiest pick, since the 25% extra damage you take punishes mistakes hard against skilled opponents.
How height changes which style is best
Height is rerollable and it changes the math on every style. Pick your build to match the style you want, or the other way around.
| Build | Effect | Best-fit styles |
|---|---|---|
| Tall | More damage, more health, larger hitbox, slower attacks | Wrestling, Kure, Muay Thai, Slugger |
| Medium | Balanced speed, damage, and durability | Boxing, Karate, Hakari, Kure |
| Short | Less damage, less health, smaller hitbox, faster attacks | Boxing, Basic, Hakari, Capoeira |
The classic mistake is running a tall-meta grappler like Wrestling on a short frame, where you lose most of what makes it strong. Boxing is the exception that plays well across short and medium builds thanks to its attack speed.
How to reroll your fighting style
Changing your style is a menu action. There is no NPC to visit and no quest to finish, and every result is random based on the drop chances above.

You know the reroll worked when the style name and its perks change in the Fight Style slot. Open Show Perks before you lock anything in to check the Guard Pierce, Resilience, and posture numbers against your build. Grab free reroll tokens from active Gakuran codes before you spend Robux, since the 1% Legendary odds can burn through a lot of attempts.
Note: If you are new, do not spend Robux chasing a reroll yet. Style matters far less than mechanics at beginner level, so learn parry timing, weaving, and the slam combo first. Once your fundamentals are solid, Boxing gives you the cleanest path to a top-tier style without needing a 1% roll, while Wrestling and Kure are the payoff for patient tall builds that can land a grab on demand.
