Doctor Doom in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – Abilities, Best Combos, and How to Play

Everything Doom brings to the 4v4 tag fighter, from Nullify Shield zoning to his 100-gauge Doombot finisher.

Everything Doom brings to the 4v4 tag fighter, from Nullify Shield zoning to his 100-gauge Doombot finisher.

Doctor Doom is built to answer almost anything you throw at him in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. He hits hard up close, keeps up steady pressure from full screen, and layers in enough teleports, shields, and flight to slip out of trouble whenever a fight turns against him. The developers rate his ease of use at four out of five stars, so he rewards fundamentals without demanding execution-heavy links to feel good.

Quick answer: Play Doom as a space-control fighter. Use Nullify Shield to erase projectiles and box in the opponent, poke with Auric Ray and Merciful Smite at range, and cash out with Mystic Cage or Diplomacy up close. When you have meter, close rounds with Antimatter Extrapolator (50 gauge) or Latverian Legion (100 gauge).

Nullify Shield: The core of Doom’s game plan

Nullify Shield is the move that defines how Doom controls a match. It plants a green energy barrier that blocks incoming projectiles, which lets him shut down zoners and characters who want to keep their distance. Adding the forward input places the barrier farther away from him.

The shield is not purely defensive. It doubles as a ranged attack that can strike the opponent, and dropping it behind them pulls them toward Doom, which sets up your close-range offense. Holding the button adds an extra hit. The barrier breaks the moment it takes any non-projectile attack, so use it against firepower, not fists.

Tip: After you land Latverian Legion, Nullify Shield gets stronger and stays on screen longer before it disappears for the rest of that round. Save the Ultimate when you want to lock down the field.

Movement: Dash and Free Flight

Doom’s teleporting Dash works forward and backward, and at the correct spacing it passes clean through the opponent. That makes it a strong tool for crossing up defenses and repositioning when pressure builds against you.

Free Flight is his other escape valve. Holding the up input lets Doom move freely through the air for a short window, which means he can contest other fliers like Green Goblin on even terms and reset the neutral from an angle the opponent has to respect.

Best Doctor Doom combos

Doom’s normal attack strings feed directly into his specials, so his bread-and-butter combos are simple to start and pay off with a knockdown or a screen-clearing beam. His Diplomacy grab has a strict rule to remember: landing it twice inside the same combo triggers the Combo Limit, so plan to use it once per sequence.

Light attack string

The Light chain is your basic close-range confirm. It runs through standard quick attacks and finishes with blast damage on the third hit. It is nothing flashy, but it is reliable for tagging an opponent who steps into your range.

Medium attack string

This is the stronger option up close. Doom opens with a punch, adds a blast on the second hit, and caps the chain with Mystic Cage, which shocks the opponent and pushes them away. It is a clean answer to characters who want to fight you in point-blank range.

Heavy attack string

The Heavy chain follows the same shape as the Medium string but swaps the final hit for an Auric Ray. That gives you a long-range finisher that keeps you safe while still ending the sequence with damage.

Super Skill and Ultimate Skill finishers

Antimatter Extrapolator is Doom’s Super Skill and costs 50 skill gauge. He draws his pistol and fires a powerful energy blast that explodes on contact and blows the opponent back. The aerial version aims downward at an angle, so you can use it to punish jumps or extend air pressure.

Latverian Legion is his Ultimate Skill at 100 skill gauge and serves as the round-closer. Doom traps the opponent inside magic circles and then unleashes a legion of Doombots. Up close, the move changes to deal more damage on hit; from far away it comes out slower but tracks the opponent’s position. As noted above, it also powers up Nullify Shield for the rest of the round.

How to play Doctor Doom

Doom’s strength is that he has a tool for every distance, so your job is to pick the right one for the range you are in. Up close, lean on Diplomacy and Mystic Cage to keep the pressure going and to deter opponents who thrive in a brawl. The H version of Diplomacy teleports you straight to the target, which lets you punish from unexpected spacing.

When you are facing a character who wants to fight from afar, answer with Auric Ray and Merciful Smite. Auric Ray covers most of the screen and is your dependable long-range poke, while Merciful Smite drops a delayed satellite laser you can time alongside your own attacks. The M version places the laser in front of Doom and moves it away from him, and the H version chases the opponent’s position.

Tie it all together with Nullify Shield. Use it to wall off projectiles and to trap opponents, then combine your beams and the shield to build layered pressure that limits where the other player can go. When the round tips against you, do not stay put. Dash or Free Flight out, reset the spacing, and start dictating the pace again.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches on PS5 and PC on August 6th, 2026, and Doom’s four default colors are available to every player from the start. If you want a villain who can zone, rushdown, and fly all in one shell, he is one of the most complete picks on the roster.
