There are 17 abilities in total, and each one is tied to either your punch or your block input, with effects that range from speed boosts and double jumps to explosive strikes and summoned bodyguards.

Quick answer: Punch Up has 17 abilities. Movement options like Bolt and Wings run on passive effects or extra jumps, offensive abilities like Bomb Punch and Sky Barrage fire on your punch input, and defensive tools like Recovery, Titan Glove, and Grapple Hook activate when you press block.

The table below lists every ability, the effect it produces, and the input that sets it off. Punch Up only uses two combat inputs, punch and block, so most activations come down to which button you press and whether you are jumping or stunned at the time.

Punch abilities vs block abilities

Knowing which input drives an ability matters, because it decides when you can use it. Punch-based abilities fire on your standard attack, so Bomb Punch, Target Punch, and Superman Punch all go off the moment you swing. Ground Pound and the mega ground pound in EMP + Mega GP are the exception, since they only trigger when you punch while jumping.

Block-based abilities turn your defensive input into a special move. Titan Glove, Grapple Hook, Storm Wings, and the EMP pulse all activate on block, and Sky Barrage uses block to lift you before you punch to drop the strikes. Recovery is the one to remember in a pinch, because it only works while you are stunned, letting you press block to fly back to safety after a heavy hit.

Phase Punch changes both inputs at once. It swaps your punch for a lightning pulse and your block for a phase dash, so it trades your normal defense for extra mobility.

Combined abilities: Wings + Bomb and EMP + Mega GP

Two abilities bundle multiple effects into a single unlock. Wings + Bomb keeps the double jump from Wings and adds an offensive layer, dropping a bomb on players below when you jump the second time. It rewards aggressive air play instead of pure movement.

EMP + Mega GP splits its power across both inputs. Press block to fire an EMP pulse, or punch while jumping to slam down a mega ground pound. That gives you a crowd-control option and a heavy area attack from one ability slot.

How to unlock abilities in Punch Up

Abilities are unlocked with Hits, the currency you earn by landing punches on other players. Knocking an opponent clean out of the arena pays a bonus, so ring-outs are the fastest way to build up Hits. Being the last glove standing in the Knockout game mode also grants a large bonus, which speeds up your progress toward the more advanced unlocks.

Alongside abilities, you can spend Hits on new gloves that carry better stats such as higher punch power and faster movement speed. Punch Up is made by the Build Tower Team and sits in the Battlegrounds & Fighting category on Roblox, so the whole loop centers on punching players off the stage to fund your next upgrade.

Once you have a feel for which inputs trigger what, the roster starts to shape your playstyle. Speed-focused players lean on Bolt and Super Bolt, air fighters build around Wings and Wings + Bomb, and anyone who wants a defensive edge can bank on Recovery, Titan Glove, or the pull-and-uppercut combo from Grapple Hook.
