Haze Seas Fighting Styles: How to Unlock Every V1 and V2 Style

Trainer costs, the 300 Mastery gate, boss materials, and Sage of Combat fees for all five styles.

Trainer costs, the 300 Mastery gate, boss materials, and Sage of Combat fees for all five styles.

Fighting styles are a full combat lane in Haze Seas, separate from your Devil Fruit and weapon. There are five of them, and each one buys in cheap as a V1 before evolving into a much stronger V2. Getting to V2 is the real grind, because every upgrade demands 300 Mastery, two specific boss drops, and a payment handed to a single NPC.

Quick answer: Buy a V1 style from its trainer, grind that style to 300 Mastery, then take the two required boss materials plus the fee to the Sage of Combat in Sea 3 with the V1 style equipped. The Sage swaps it to V2 and grants a title.

Unlock every V1 fighting style

Each V1 style is sold by its own trainer. Walk up, pay the cost, and the style is yours. Black Leg is the entry point at 50,000 Beli and sits in Sea 1, which makes it the natural first pick for a new build. Dragon Claw is the odd one out, since it costs Gems instead of Beli.

Unlocking all five V1 styles earns the Master of the Styles title. You do not need to keep them all active, and you can switch between styles you own freely.

Reach 300 Mastery, the hard gate for V2

Every V2 upgrade blocks you until the V1 style hits 300 Mastery. You earn Mastery EXP just by fighting with the style equipped, and stronger targets pay out far more, which makes boss farming the fastest route.

ActionMastery EXP
M1 basic attack0.1
Using a skill1
Defeating an NPC2
Defeating a Boss10
Defeating a Super Boss150

There is a level penalty to watch for. If an NPC or Boss sits more than 200 levels below your character, you only collect 20% of the normal Mastery EXP. The same cut applies to Super Bosses once you heavily outlevel them, so farming enemies close to your level is more efficient than steamrolling weak ones.

Mastery caps at 500 per style, and every two levels grant one stat point for that combat category, up to 250 bonus stat points at max. You only need 300 for the V2 upgrade, but pushing past it keeps adding stats.

Upgrade to V2 at the Sage of Combat

All V2 evolutions run through one NPC, the Sage of Combat, found on Land of the Gods in Sea 3. Equip the V1 style you want to evolve before you talk to him, or he will refuse the conversation. If you are short on anything, he tells you exactly what is still missing.

Beyond the shared 300 Mastery requirement, each style needs two copies of a specific boss drop and a payment in Beli or Gems.

Note: four of the five materials are guaranteed drops, so those bosses only need to be beaten twice each. Sea Beast Hearts for Fishman Karate V2 are the exception at a 25% drop rate, which means that style can take the longest to farm despite its identical fee to Black Leg and Cyborg.

Titles you earn from each V2

Every V2 unlock adds a prestige title above your name. Finishing all five earns the top-tier Grandmaster of the Styles.

How skills unlock as Mastery climbs

Buying a style does not hand you the full kit. The first skill is active immediately, and the rest open up as Mastery rises. This applies across fighting styles, fruits, and swords.

Confirming the upgrade and common blockers

The upgrade worked once the Sage of Combat completes the trade, your move set swaps to the V2 kit, and the matching title appears above your character. Black Leg V2, for example, gains the Azure Inferno toggle that coats attacks in blue flame, while Electro V2 shifts its lightning to yellow.

If the Sage will not evolve the style, it is almost always one of three things. You are under 300 Mastery on that specific style, you do not have both required materials in your inventory, or you are short on the Beli or Gems fee. Talking to him without the V1 style equipped also stops the interaction entirely, so equip it first.

If you are starting fresh, Black Leg is the cleanest path. It is the cheapest to buy, its Phantom Lantern material is a guaranteed Ghost Ship drop, and focusing on one style at a time gets you to 300 Mastery far faster than spreading effort across all five.
