NTE: How to Hang a Fish on Your Car as a Rear Ornament

Decorating a vehicle with a dangling catch in Neverness to Everness comes down to two things working together. Your car needs a Rear Tow Hook, and you need a purple or golden fish reserved for display. Once both are in place, the fish becomes a rear ornament you can drive around Hethereau with.

Quick answer: Add a Rear Tow Hook to your car at a modification shop, lock a purple or golden fish in your Fish Hold, then select that fish as a rear ornament from the garage and press Use.

What you need before you start

The display only works with specific pieces, so gather these first.

Requirement	Details
Rear Tow Hook	A vehicle modification bought with Fons at any car modification shop.
A purple or golden fish	Rare and legendary catches from any fishing spot; ordinary fish cannot be hung.
Fishing unlocked	Reach City Tycoon level 3 to open the Sea Angler hobby.

Catch a purple or golden fish

Only rare (purple) and legendary (golden) fish qualify as ornaments, so head to a fishing spot and reel one in before touching your car. The catch is quick if the Fishing Frenzy event is running.

Travel to any marked fishing spot along the water in the city. These appear as small white fishing-line icons on your map, or you can jump straight to one from the Fishing option in the Hethereau Hobbies menu.

Equip a fishing rod and bait, then cast your line. Better bait raises your odds of hooking the rarer purple and golden fish you need.

Keep your marker inside the green meter until the fish’s stamina drops to zero, then reel it in. Repeat until you land a purple or golden fish.

Fit the Rear Tow Hook to your car

The ornament attaches to the hook, so your vehicle must carry one before anything can hang. You buy it at a modification shop.

Go to any car modification shop and interact with the seller.

Choose the car you want to decorate, then press Modify.

Select Rear Tow Hook from the options and buy it for Fons. The hook now stays fitted to that vehicle.

Lock the fish in your Fish Hold

A fish will not appear as an ornament option unless it is locked in your Fish Hold. Skip this and the garage shows a “There are no usable fish in the Fish Hold” pop-up.

Open the map and select Hethereau Hobbies, then choose Fishing.

Open your Fish Hold and find the purple or golden fish you want to display.

Lock that fish. Locking protects it from being sold or spoiling and marks it as usable for the vehicle ornament menu.

Mount the fish from the garage

With a hooked car and a locked fish ready, the final step happens inside City Tycoon.

Open City Tycoon and head to the garage.

Pick the car that has the Rear Tow Hook fitted.

Select the fish you want as a rear ornament and press Use. The fish now hangs from the back of the car whenever you drive.

Note: If the fish still does not show up as an option, return to the Fish Hold and confirm the fish is both a rare or legendary catch and locked. Common and uncommon fish never appear in the ornament list.

Store spare fish so they don’t spoil

Purple and golden fish left sitting in your inventory can go bad. Moving the extras into a home fish tank keeps them fresh, and any fish kept in the tank can still be used as a rear ornament later.

Teleport to the nearest Luna Bay, marked with a fish bowl icon, and buy a fish tank, a fish tank decoration, fish food, and acid to balance the tank’s pH.

Fast travel to a house you own and place the fish tank inside.

Interact with the tank and place the decoration first. Without a decoration in the tank, fish cannot be added.

Transfer your unused locked fish into the tank. They stay preserved until you want to swap one onto a car.

Once a purple or golden fish is swaying from your Rear Tow Hook, the decoration sticks with that vehicle until you change it, giving you a fishy trophy to cruise Hethereau with.
