AION 2: How to Get Refining Stones Fast

Where every rarity of Refining Stone drops, which activities give the most, and when to just buy them.

Where every rarity of Refining Stone drops, which activities give the most, and when to just buy them.

Refining Stones are the crafting material that gates most of your gear in AION 2. Blacksmithing, Armorsmithing, Handicrafting, and Alchemy all pull from them, and every recipe calls for a specific rarity in a specific quantity. The catch is that there is no single mob or map that reliably rains them down. The stones come from targeted activities, and knowing which ones saves you from grinding open-world enemies for a drop rate under 1%.

Quick answer: Run the Shugo Festival and Dimensional Invasions whenever they are active, use Expeditions and Sanctuary dungeons as your steady source, and buy exact rarities from the Market when you only need a few.

Refining Stone rarities and which one you need

There are four rarities, each a separate item with its own name. Higher-rarity gear demands higher-rarity stones, so a mountain of Common Refining Stones will not finish an Epic recipe. Always read the recipe first, then farm the exact tier it lists.

RarityStoneRequired levelSeason Shop cost
CommonRefining Stone1540 Daeva Pass Shop Coin
RareExpert’s Refining Stone—400 Daeva Pass Shop Coin
EpicArtisan’s Refining Stone354,000 Daeva Pass Shop Coin
UniqueArtisan’s Ultimate Refining Stone404,800 Daeva Pass Shop Coin

Vendors pay only 16 Kina for a Common Refining Stone, so selling one to them is a poor choice. You can trade the Epic Artisan’s Refining Stone through Personal Trade, but the Common version is bound and cannot be traded or stored on the server. The separate endgame item, Unique Artisan’s Ultimate Refining Stone, comes only from Conquest and Sanctuary content at level 40.

Fastest sources: Shugo Festival and Dimensional Invasions

When either of these is live, do it before anything else. Both hand you Refining Stones directly rather than leaving it to a low-percent roll, and both pile on other materials at the same time.

The Shugo Festival unlocks after you finish the Urgent Pursuit quest, with the minigames opening up from level 13. It runs in timed windows the game flags with a chipmunk-like icon beside the map. Tap it to open the festival menu, pick a game you are good at, and jump in. You get roughly three minutes to choose, and you can only enter one game per window, so commit to one. Nine festival events reward the Epic Artisan’s Refining Stone, including Jump Jump, Wraith Evasion, Mysterious Track, Hidden Lugi, Odyle Flight Frenzy, Goldrin’s Treasure, Defend Shugo Merchants, Up! Up! Up!, and Not This Tile?

Dimensional Invasions pay out through the Monster Cubes you pick after each invasion ends, and those cubes can contain Refining Stones alongside the usual loot. It is a high-yield source that does not involve standing in one spot clearing trash.

Expeditions and Sanctuary dungeons for steady farming

Outside of the timed events, Expeditions are the source to build around. Expeditions open after the Daeva in a Dream quest once Krao Cave is available. Pick a domain matching your level under the Exploration or Conquest tab, join or form a team, and clear the mini-bosses and final boss. When the final boss falls, a reward cube spawns. Open it to collect your materials, which include Refining Stones.

The rarity you get scales with the Expedition’s level, and the real farm here is the cube, not the trash along the way. Open cubes on the highest difficulty you can clear so your gear progress and stone income move together. Exploration cubes also drop stones and cost less energy to open.

The Epic Artisan’s Refining Stone drops from the following Expeditions, with Abyssal Forge: Ludra filling the same role as a Sanctuary once you are deep into the endgame.

DungeonBoss levelMode
Urugugu Canyon30Exploration, Conquest
Fire Temple37Exploration, Conquest
Krao Cave45Exploration, Conquest
Draupnir45Exploration, Conquest
Vakron Sky Island54Exploration, Conquest
Ferocious Horn Den63Exploration, Conquest
Abyssal Forge: Ludra75Sanctuary (Conquest, 10 players)

Named bosses such as Transcendent Bakarma (level 45) in Draupnir, Divine Auldor in Urugugu Canyon, and Ferocious Horn Nuakum in Ferocious Horn Den hand over a Refining Stone on a guaranteed basis, so these runs never come up empty.

Buying Refining Stones from the Market

The Market unlocks at level 45 alongside Abyss and Season content. It is the right call when one stone is the only thing between you and a finished craft, because you can buy the precise rarity instead of farming and praying for the correct drop.

Open the main menu and press Market.
Choose the Miscellaneous category, marked with a pouch icon.
Type “Refining Stone” into the search bar, pick the rarity you need, and compare listings so you do not overpay.

Refining Stones go into many recipes, so rising demand can drive up listing prices. Check prices before buying a large stack. Use the Market to fill one particular gap, not as your regular source.

Season Shop, achievements, and passive drops

The Season Shop also opens at level 45 and sells all four stone rarities for Daeva Pass Shop Coin earned through Season Missions. The prices sit at 40, 400, 4,000, and 4,800 coins from Common up to Unique. To reach it, open the main menu, press Season, then click the Season Shop text in the top-left corner.

Several achievements reward Common Refining Stones, including the Boss Loot, Ore Collector, Gem Collector, and Log Collector lines. These are a clean one-time top-up you earn just by playing.

Regular enemies across Altgard, Verteron, Chaotic Lower Reshanta, and other hunting grounds can drop Refining Stones, but the rate is low and spread across hundreds of mobs, so there is no single zone worth traveling to. Field Bosses drop them too and are the slowest option of all. Keep both as a bonus while you farm something else rather than a plan on their own.

How to know you have enough

Open the crafting screen for the gear you want and check the recipe’s stone requirement against your inventory. Each stone stacks up to 10,000, so the count sits plainly beside the item. Once the required rarity and quantity are green in the recipe, you can craft immediately. The smart routine is to collect stones through content you are already running: hit the Shugo Festival and Dimensional Invasions when they appear, lean on Expeditions and Sanctuaries for the rest, bank whatever drops while questing, and buy the one rarity you are short on. That keeps your character progressing instead of turning every craft into a separate grind.
