Along Huayu Road Walkthrough - Where Winds Meet Qinchuan Exploration Quest

Along Huayu Road is an exploration quest tucked into the Qinchuan Path region of Hexi, added with the Qinchuan map expansion in Where Winds Meet. It sends you after a gilded carriage flanked by an unsettling retinue of servants, ending in a duel with Duan Cunyi and a search through the carriage itself. Clearing it nets a sizable lump of Echo Jade, exploration credit, and Enlightenment Points.

Quest overview

The quest triggers automatically when you approach the carriage, so there is no NPC handoff. The nearest fast travel point is The Huayu Road Boundary Stone, sitting across the river from Lion Barrow on the Qinchuan map. West of North Mountain Plateau is the next closest landmark if you are coming from the east side.

How to start the quest

Fast travel to The Huayu Road Boundary Stone in Qinchuan Path. From the stone, ride southeast across the open road until you spot the gilded carriage and its escort of servants on the path. Walking into the marker activates the quest and the first objective.

Stepwise walkthrough

Step 1: Approach the rear of the carriage. The servants will turn hostile as soon as you get close, so close the distance and engage them directly rather than trying to slip past.

Step 2: Defeat the first wave of servants. These are standard Longwu Army troops, no special mechanics, just clean them up with your usual rotation.

Step 3: Defeat the reinforcements that arrive next. A second wave spawns once the first is down, so do not run off or fast travel before they appear.

Step 4: Investigate the dead horse near the carriage. The interaction prompt appears on the collapsed horse on the road, and triggering it pushes the quest into the boss phase.

Step 5: Defeat Duan Cunyi. He shows up southeast of The Huayu Road Boundary Stone right after the horse interaction. He is also tagged as a Hero of the Four Seas encounter, so beating him counts toward that collection too.

Step 6: Go inside the carriage. Once Duan Cunyi is down, the carriage door opens, and you can climb in.

Step 7: Investigate the lower level. Look around the interior for interactables, including Duan Cunyi's Letter and the Crumpled Debt Note, which fill in what the retinue was actually escorting.

Step 8: Move to the upper level and investigate it as well. Finishing the upper-level inspection ends the quest and pays out the rewards.

Reinforcements bug fix

There is a known hitch during the second objective where the reinforcements never spawn after the first wave dies, leaving the quest stuck on "Defeat the reinforcements." If that happens, the cleanest reset is a hard re-log.

Step 1: Fast travel to a Boundary Stone far away from The Huayu Road, anywhere on the other side of the map works.

Step 2: Log out of the game completely, then log back in.

Step 3: Teleport back to The Huayu Road Boundary Stone and walk back to the carriage. You may need to fight the servants again, but the reinforcements will trigger correctly on the second attempt.

Quest rewards

Finishing every objective, including both carriage investigations, pays out the full reward stack. Because Duan Cunyi doubles as a Hero of the Four Seas, his loot is bundled into the same completion payout rather than handed out separately.

How to confirm completion

The quest closes out the moment you finish investigating the upper level of the carriage. You will see the standard completion banner, the rewards land in your inventory, and Duan Cunyi will be checked off in your Heroes of the Four Seas list for Qinchuan Path. If the quest log still shows an open objective, you most likely missed the upper-level interaction prompt and need to climb back inside the carriage to finish it.
