The Echonite objective belongs to Everlasting Echoback Song, a Journey you pick up at Echoback Landing in the Breezy Plains region of Aniimo. A painter named Sorora has set up an easel beneath an enormous whale skeleton on the pink shore, and the blue crystals scattered around the bones only respond after dark. Hitting them in the wrong order, or in daylight, does nothing at all.
Quick answer: Switch the world to Nighttime, strike the shimmering Echonite next to the whale bones, then follow each blue resonance trail to the next node until the final crystal triggers the cutscene.
What the Echonite puzzle needs before it will start
Echoback Landing sits along the coast of Breezy Plains and covers content in the level 34 to 40 range, so the surrounding Susuta and Panpanta packs can interrupt you mid-chain. Before you swing at anything, make sure all of the following are true.
- Everlasting Echoback Song is active in your Log, started by talking to Sorora.
- Once the main quest reaches the required point, the Day and Night Switch feature becomes available.
- The in-game clock reads Nighttime, not dusk or daytime.
- You have an Earth Aniimo that can break boulders, such as Budclaw, available to swap in.
- Your team can climb and swim, since the chain crosses bone arches and open water.
Colour is not a readiness signal. An inactive blue crystal looks almost identical to a live Echonite, which has a faint shimmer. Only the node the resonance points to will react.
How to strike the Echonite chain at night
Use the bounce points along the route instead of trying to fly every gap. Gliding across open water burns stamina and often drops you short of the next ledge.
If the resonance trail stops
A stalled chain does not mean a failed Journey, and you never need to abandon and restart it. Read what the puzzle is showing you and respond accordingly.

The quest text itself tells you to re-strike an activated Echonite when the light dies, so treat that as the standard recovery. If several attempts still produce nothing, the time of day is almost always the culprit.
How to confirm the Echoback bones puzzle is finished
Hitting the last node hands control to the game and starts a cutscene. The Echoback constellation illuminates the sky while a luminous spectral whale emerges from the sea. This spectacle—not the normal whale swimming offshore—confirms it. The Log objective then updates to mention a rare flower blooming on the shore.
Walk the pink sand and pick up the Whalesong Blossom that has appeared, then swim back across the inlet to Sorora at his easel. Talk to him, pick a title for the finished painting, and the Journey closes once the artwork is shown to you.

The Sparkling Crystal payout is the one worth noting. It is the core material for Sparkling Cubes, and Tesella Pod in Astra buys it in bulk, so 30 of them is a meaningful chunk of crafting stock for a single Journey.
Two things at Echoback Landing look connected to this puzzle but are not. Stars and the Knight, the Journey that leads to Omega Sherro, runs entirely separately, and no boss needs to die for the whale song to play. Elvira’s perfume errand in A Fragrant Journey is also its own branch, so check that objective after Sorora’s final conversation to see whether the Whalesong Blossom still needs handing in.
