Aniimo: The Best DPS Picks Worth Your Upgrade Materials

Five damage dealers that justify Star Essence, Prismatic Stones, and Capability Fruit, plus the stats and evolution requirements behind them.

Five damage dealers that justify Star Essence, Prismatic Stones, and Capability Fruit, plus the stats and evolution requirements behind them.

Idyll hands you more creatures than you can possibly feed. Star Essence gets expensive fast, Prismatic Stones show up rarely, and an Omnisource Crystal spent on a bench-warmer is gone for good. The fix is boring but effective: pick one damage dealer, fund it properly, and let the rest sit at base level until you know what your team is missing.

Quick answer: Commit Star Essence, Prismatic Stones, and Capability Fruit to a single carry — Blazen, Fennelun, Ignitis, Stellarys, or Scorchhowl — and leave everything else unleveled until a role gap forces your hand.

Aniimo resources you should not spread thin

Before picking a carry, it helps to know exactly which materials are recoverable and which are not. Glimmer arrives in bulk during the opening hours and then slows to a trickle, Lumin Crystals are the paid premium currency used in the shop, and the progression items below are the ones players most often burn on the wrong creature.

ItemWhat it doesWho it should go to
Star EssenceMain Aniimo leveling currencyOne carry at a time
Prismatic StoneUpgrades an Aniimo’s core skillPermanent team members
Capability FruitAdds potential points to statsFinal forms only
Omnisource CrystalVery rare high-level development materialYour endgame carry
Prismana OrbConverts an Aniimo to its Prismana formA keeper you already like
Sparkling CubeGuarantees a catch and a sparkling resultRare targets only
Aniipod UltraGuaranteed catchNothing, until it matters
Psyche FruitRerolls an Aniimo’s personalityBuilds that need a set personality

Star Essence costs climb at higher levels, so leveling three half-built creatures costs far more than leveling one to the same point. Prismatic Stones are the same logic applied to skills, and a Prismana Orb keeps sparkling status when it transforms an Aniimo, which makes it worth holding for a creature you intend to keep.

Unequip the Aniipod Ultra while you explore. It guarantees the catch, which means a stray throw at a common spawn spends it for nothing.

The same restraint applies to Sparkling Cubes. Wild shiny rates on the creatures in this list sit at 0.005 percent, so the guaranteed version is only worth opening on something you actually want to display.

The five best Aniimo to build first

All five of these are damage dealers, because damage is the bottleneck that stalls early progression and boss fights. They are ordered here by how cheap they are to get hold of, not by raw power, since the fastest way out of a resource crunch is finishing one carry rather than starting a better one.

Fennelun (Lunara)

Fennelun is one of the two starters, alongside Helion, and it is the ranged half of that pair. Both share the same base attribute profile, so the split is entirely about how you like to fight: Helion wants to be in the enemy’s face, Fennelun does not. For a first carry that costs nothing to acquire, Light damage at range is the safer pick, and the starter’s resistance-reduction utility keeps it relevant well past the tutorial.

Blazen

Blazen is fast, hits hard, and holds up better in a fight than most attackers with similar output. Its Prismana form adds Dark alongside Lightning. Community rankings tend to file it as a Break specialist rather than a pure damage dealer, which is a reasonable read — its real value is that stagger pressure and damage arrive in the same slot, so bringing it does not cost you a damage seat.

Ignitis

Ignitis has more regional forms than almost anything else in the game, and that flexibility is the point. The base creature is Dark, the Forest Form pairs Dark with Grass, and both the Highland and Prismana forms add Fire. It is built for close-quarters work, which means it needs a breaker or a healer nearby to keep it in melee range, but the payoff is one of the strongest sustained damage loops available.

Stellarys

Stellarys is the outlier here because its damage does not stop when you move. Its clone keeps applying pressure while you reposition, which makes it unusually forgiving for an aggressive attacker and very good against the first wave of real bosses. The Rainstorm Form pairs Dark with Water and lives in the Forest of Falling Stars in Breezy Plains at levels 20 to 25, which puts it within reach early.

Stellarys belongs to the Celestis family and sits at element level 3 as a stage 3 creature, so there is no evolution chain to grind through once you have one. Rainstorm Form individuals turn up more often on rainy days.

It is also the pick that most reliably carries early Alpha encounters, including the level 37 Alpha Blazen fight, thanks to its range.

Scorchhowl

Scorchhowl is the easiest of the five to obtain and the reason it sits on this list at all. You can catch its first stage in the open world, walk it up two evolutions, and end up with a stage 3 Fire attacker that mixes kicks and bolts for both melee and ranged coverage. Its Thunderstorm Form pairs Fire with Lightning, and its Highland Form pairs Fire with Rock.

Scorchhowl evolution requirements and Emberpup locations

The Emberpup line runs Emberpup to Flameruff to Scorchhowl, and both of the mountain variants share identical base stats at every stage. Only the elements differ, so where you catch it matters more than what it rolls.

Catch an Emberpup or a Flameruff in one of the habitats above. Both stages of both forms share the same spawn zones, so grabbing a Flameruff directly skips the first evolution entirely.
Level the Emberpup to Aniimo level 12. That is the only requirement for the first evolution, with no item or field fight attached.
Take the Flameruff to Aniimo level 20, defeat the Alpha Scorchhowl, and spend one Blaze Stone. All three conditions are required together for the final evolution.

Highland Form versus Mountain Woods Form

Since the base stats are the same, pick by typing. The Mountain Woods Form is pure Fire, which keeps its damage clean against Fire-vulnerable targets. The Highland Form carries Fire and Rock, gaining a second offensive element at the cost of the extra resistances that come with dual typing. Both reach element level 3 as Scorchhowl, and both take the same evolution route.

How to confirm the investment landed

Each milestone has a visible marker, so you never have to guess whether a material did anything.

  • An evolution has gone through when the species name changes and the stage and element level advance — Emberpup is stage 1 at element level 1, Flameruff stage 2 at level 2, Scorchhowl stage 3 at level 3.
  • Release rewards track the same progression: Growth Bud (3) at stage 1, Growth Flower (1) at stage 2, Growth Flower (2) at stage 3.
  • Reporting any of these creatures pays Credits (100), which is a useful sanity check that the entry registered.
  • The in-game Aniimo Wiki lists every creature with its evolutions, locations, capture conditions, and active times, so you can verify a requirement before spending anything.

Check the form label on an Aniimo before you feed it a Prismana Orb or a stack of Capability Fruit. Alternate forms carry different elements and different kits, and the placement you read about may apply to a form you do not own.

Why these rankings will move

The launch meta is early, and the most confident rankings circulating right now lean on closed beta testing rather than months of live data. There is also a concrete reason not to trust older build advice: random rune slots and the rune system were removed, which means any beta-era ranking built around that gear no longer describes the creature you will actually be playing.

That is another argument for the narrow approach. One fully funded carry, a breaker to open windows for it, and a healer to keep it standing will clear everything in front of you right now, and it leaves your Omnisource Crystals and Prismatic Stones intact for whatever the first balance pass rewards.
