Cursed Student is a Mythic unit in Anime Expeditions built around one idea: stack Bleed fast, then let copied attacks and summoned Bat Spirits pile on extra damage. Modeled on Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen, it deals Dark element and Physical archetype damage, and it evolves into a stronger form called Cursed Student (True Love).
Quick answer: Summon Cursed Student from the Standard or Mini Banner at a 0.5% rate (pity at 400 pulls), then evolve it with 1 Student ID, 20 Blue Sprites, 20 Purple Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, and 5,000 Gold.

How to get Cursed Student
Cursed Student is a summonable unit, not a drop or a quest reward. It appears in the pool for both the Standard Banner and the Mini Banner. Because it sits at Mythic rarity, the base pull chance is low, so expect to lean on pity rather than luck.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| Banners | Standard and Mini |
| Base rate | 0.5% |
| Pity | Guaranteed by 400 summons |
| Placement limit | 3 |
Note: Banner pools rotate. Confirm the active banner and its displayed odds in game before spending, since a unit is not always featured.

Add to Google Preferences →Evolution materials for Cursed Student (True Love)
Once you own the base unit, the Evolution menu unlocks the upgrade path to Cursed Student (True Love). You need every item below before the transformation can be applied.
| Material | Amount | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
Student ID | 1 | Love & Loss Trial in the School Grounds Story map |
| Sprite (Blue) | 20 | Challenge / Trial mode stages |
| Sprite (Purple) | 20 | Challenge / Trial mode stages |
| Sprite (Rainbow) | 1 | Challenge / Trial mode stages |
| Gold | 5,000 | Clearing any stage |
You will know the evolution worked when the card updates its name to Cursed Student (True Love) and the unit gains its second passive. If the option is greyed out, one material is still short of the required count.
Cursed Mimicry: how the copied attack works
Cursed Mimicry is the passive both forms share. Every third regular attack, Cursed Student fires a follow-up that copies an attack from the closest ally in range.
- The follow-up deals 100% of Cursed Student’s current damage plus 40% of the closest unit’s current damage.
- On each new activation, the share taken from the closest unit rises by 20%.
This makes placement part of the damage. Whichever unit sits closest becomes the copy target, so put a strong, well-upgraded attacker next to Cursed Student. A cheap opener or a farm unit in that slot lowers the follow-up. Recheck the neighbor whenever you move, sell, or add a unit.

Spirit Bats and Bleed
Spirit Bats is the second passive, exclusive to the True Love form. It converts Bleed pressure into extra summoned attackers.
- For every 20 total Bleed stacks inside the unit’s range, a Bat Spirit spawns at Cursed Student’s position.
- Up to three Bat Spirits can exist at once.
- Each Bat Spirit deals 15% of Cursed Student’s current damage per attack.
- A Bat Spirit despawns after three attacks.
Bleed itself deals 0.65x damage across six ticks over six seconds. Cursed Student applies it on every attack, and the more attacks land, the faster Spirit Bats trigger. That is why frequent attacks and a real Bleed source matter more than raw single hits. Without any Bleed on the field, Cursed Mimicry still works, but the Spirit Bats half of the kit stays dormant.

Upgrade costs and DPS by form
The base form tops out at seven upgrade tiers, while True Love adds two more for extra scaling. The numbers below track damage per second at each level.
| Upgrade | Cost (¥) | Base DPS | True Love DPS |
|---|---|---|---|
| UPG 0 | 1,250 | 32.60 | 45.80 |
| UPG 1 | 3,000 | 47.80 | 67.00 |
| UPG 2 | 3,600 | 77.64 | 108.73 |
| UPG 3 | 3,750 | 99.62 | 139.62 |
| UPG 4 | 4,750 | 105.50 | 147.83 |
| UPG 5 | 6,250 | 117.37 | 164.39 |
| UPG 6 | 7,750 | 140.00 | 196.00 |
| UPG 7 | 9,750 | — | 195.57 |
| UPG 8 | 11,750 | — | 211.71 |
Max placement cost is ¥28,200 for the base unit and ¥48,800 for Cursed Student (True Love). Certain upgrades change the attack shape, including a Circle AoE at UPG 2, a Cone AoE at UPG 4, and a Line AoE at UPG 7 on the evolved form.

Best traits for Cursed Student
Since the whole kit scales off attack frequency and current damage, traits that boost stats, attack speed, and range give the most return.
| Trait | Why it fits |
|---|---|
| Unbound | Best overall trait; maximizes total stats and trigger frequency for copied hits and summons. |
| Draconic | Strongest practical alternative; raises Bleed and damage-over-time output. |
| Primordial | Extends range so the unit hits enemies earlier and holds more targets in Bleed. |
Unbound is very hard to obtain, so Draconic is the most reliable target for most players. No single trait is mandatory. A correct copy target and a live Bleed source often matter more than the exact roll.
Placement and team setup
Position Cursed Student as close to the enemy spawn as the map allows. Early placement along the path lets it apply Bleed sooner, spin up Spirit Bats faster, and grind down enemies before they reach your main line. A bend or overlapping lane works best because the copy target and the Bleed source can share the same fight.
Build the surrounding team with three roles in mind: a verified Bleed applier to feed Spirit Bats, a high-output ally placed as the closest copy target, and a unit that holds enemies inside the shared zone for longer attack windows. Keep openers and economy units outside the closest-unit slot so they never overwrite the copy target.

Clearing the Love & Loss Unit Quest
The Love & Loss Trial rewards the Student ID you need for evolution, so it is worth clearing early. The run rewards steady economy and tight grouping.
Cursed Student rewards patience over burst. Give it a strong neighbor to copy, a dependable Bleed source, and time on longer stages, and both the follow-ups and the Bat Spirits will keep stacking damage well past their base numbers.
