Vegetable is the Vegeta-inspired Mythic added with Update 1.0 of Anime Expeditions, and Unbound is the trait that turns it from a support-dependent damage dealer into a crit machine. Getting there means two separate rolls of the dice: pulling the unit from a banner, then hitting a 0.1% trait at the reroll altar.
Quick answer: Pull Vegetable from the Standard Banner or Mini Banner (0.25% Mythic rate, 400-summon pity), then spend trait rerolls on it until the panel shows Unbound, a 0.1% roll worth +350% DMG, -5% SPA, and +10% Range.
What the Unbound trait gives Vegetable
Unbound is the largest trait multiplier in the game, and it is why players burn entire reroll stockpiles on a single unit. On Vegetable it stacks on top of a kit that already grows its own damage and crit numbers during a match, so the multiplier compounds rather than sitting flat.
| Value | Detail |
|---|---|
| Roll chance | 0.1% |
| Damage | +350% |
| SPA (attack interval) | -5% |
| Range | +10% |
Trait panels have listed Unbound with a pity at 1,500 rerolls. Open the panel in-game before committing a large stash, since rates and pity counters can be adjusted between updates.

Vegetable appears on two gachas, and both carry the same Mythic rate and the same pity. The difference is timing. Featured Mythics rotate every hour, so the practical trick is to wait until Vegetable is the one you can actually target instead of spending gems into a rotation that does not include it.
| Banner | How Vegetable appears | Rate and pity |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Banner | Three Mythics featured, rotating hourly; the center slot has the higher pull chance | 0.25% Mythic, pity at 400 summons |
| Mini Banner | One new Mythic featured every hour | 0.25% Mythic, pity at 400 summons |
Pity resets every time you pull any Mythic, so a lucky off-target Mythic pushes your counter back to zero. Spend the bulk of your gems while Vegetable sits in the center slot of the Standard Banner or is the active Mini Banner unit, since those are the windows where the pity clock is actually working toward the unit you want.
Rolling Unbound at the trait reroll altar

Note: lock the unit once Unbound lands. Menus move quickly during summon and inventory cleanup, and auto-sell settings do not protect a unit you have not locked.
Evolution materials for Vegetable (Prince)
The trait alone does not unlock the strong version of the unit. Evolving Vegetable into Vegetable (Prince) is what gives it the three passives that make the 350% damage bonus worth chasing.
| Material | Amount | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Sprite (Red) | 20 | Challenge stages, or crafted from Grey Sprites |
| Sprite (Green) | 20 | Challenge stages, or crafted from Grey Sprites |
| Sprite (Rainbow) | 1 | Challenge stages, or crafted from Grey Sprites |
| Prince’s Crown | 1 | A Prince’s Pride Unit Trial only |
| Gold | 10,000 | Challenge stages |
Grey Sprites drop from Story stages and convert into the colored sprites, so the red, green, and rainbow requirements are farmable even on a bad Challenge rotation. The Prince’s Crown is the hard gate. A Prince’s Pride is a 15-wave Unit Trial that ends with Bioinsect (Perfect) as the final boss, and the crown drops on the victory screen after that clear.
Why Unbound suits this kit
Vegetable (Prince) does very little on its own. Every passive keys off what other units nearby are doing, which means a big flat multiplier lands on top of buffs that are already climbing during long fights.
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| Prince’s Pursuit | Enemies leaving its range take 10% of its current damage |
| Royal Rivalry | +5% Damage per nearby ally regular attack (cap 50%), +10% Crit Chance per nearby critical hit (cap 50%), +10% Crit Damage per nearby Follow-Up Attack (cap 30%) |
| Awakened Pride | Patience starts at 100 and drops 5 per takedown in range; an ally transforming in range empties it instantly and gains +15% damage |
| Vegetable Transformation | +15% Damage, +35% Critical Damage, +20% Critical Chance |
Because the Royal Rivalry stacks are permanent for the run, the unit is at its best in Raid and Tournament, where matches last long enough to reach every cap. The Patience mechanic also means you control the transformation timing: park an ally that transforms inside Vegetable’s range and Patience empties immediately instead of draining five points per takedown.
Deployment cost and upgrade payoff
Vegetable costs 1,650 Yen to place and carries Magical and Light typings, so check stage rules before building a team around it. On the track with Unbound applied, it starts around 2,307 DMG with a 6-second SPA and 19.3 range, then scales to roughly 20,032 DMG, 5.2-second SPA, and 31.7 range at maximum upgrade.
| Upgrade | What changes |
|---|---|
| Upgrade 4 | Blue Flash, a circular AoE attack |
| Upgrade 8 | Super Energy Flash |
| Max | Peak damage, shortest SPA, widest range |
Common reasons the chase stalls
- Summoning while Vegetable is not the featured Mythic. Pulling a different Mythic resets your 400-summon pity without getting you closer.
- Rerolling traits on the wrong unit. Traits do not transfer between characters.
- Missing the Prince’s Crown. No amount of sprite farming replaces it, since it only drops from A Prince’s Pride Unit Trial.
- Placing Vegetable alone. With no allies in range, Royal Rivalry never stacks and Awakened Pride has nothing to drain Patience.
The full build is a three-part commitment: gems for the banner, a large reroll stash for the trait, and Challenge and Unit Trial clears for the evolution. Finish the evolution first if resources are tight, because Vegetable (Prince) is functional without Unbound, while a base Vegetable with Unbound is still missing the passives that make the multiplier count.
