The leaking oil pipe is the trickiest of the three Battening Down objectives Apollo hands out on the Riven Tides map, mainly because the pipe section you need to repair shows no obvious leak. Reach the right spot, and a yellow prompt does the rest.

Where the leaking oil pipe sits on Riven Tides
The pipe lives at the northeastern edge of the map, beyond the Wavebreaker seawall. The Wavebreaker is the long concrete barrier running along the northern shoreline, with several perpendicular crosswalls jutting out toward the ocean, forming H-shaped pockets in the sand.
You want the easternmost pocket. Between the two final crosswalls, two thick oil pipes lie partially buried in the sand, running from the inland side of the seawall out toward the water. Only one of them is intact, and the segment closest to the wall is the interaction point.

How to trigger the repair prompt
Step 1: Travel to the Wavebreaker POI in the northeast and follow it east until you reach the last two crosswalls. From the map, the formation looks like an H lying on its side at the corner of the shoreline.

Step 2: Drop down between those two crosswalls on the seaward side. You will see two large pipes side by side, partly covered by sand, stretching toward the ocean.
Step 3: Move to the short, isolated section of pipe nearest the seawall, where sand surrounds it on both sides. The pipe itself does not visibly leak, so rely on position rather than visual cues.
Step 4: Walk slowly along that segment until the yellow REPAIR PIPELINE prompt appears. Hold the interact button to weld the pipe. The objective ticks off in the quest tracker on the left side of the screen as soon as the animation completes.

Why the pipe is hard to spot
Most leak objectives in extraction shooters use a visual tell, like a colored oil sheen or a hissing puff of steam. The Battening Down pipe has neither on the section you actually repair. The interaction zone is small and tied to a specific stretch of the inland-most pipe, so overshooting it by a few meters hides the prompt entirely.
Battening Down objectives at a glance

| Fix the leaking oil pipe | Easternmost Wavebreaker pocket, pipe section nearest the seawall | REPAIR PIPELINE |
| Photograph the cracks in the seawall | Concrete pillar at the southeast base of the Port Authority Building, facing the Stacking Yard | TAKE PHOTO |
| Sample the shoreline near the hotel beach | North of Azzurro Beach, on the wet sand of the Seabed, on a seaweed patch | SAMPLE SEAWEED |
Quest giver, rewards, and rules
Battening Down is given by Apollo and is part of the Riven Tides update content. The three steps can be completed in any order, and they do not need to be finished in a single raid. You can knock out one task, extract or die, then return for the others.
Once all three are complete, hand the quest in to Apollo to receive:
- Riven Tides Hotel Keycard No. 107
- Smoke Grenade Trap x3
The keycard ties into other Riven Tides content tied to the Hotel Panorama Azzurro, so it is worth banking rather than recycling.

If the prompt does not appear
Two reasons cover almost every failed attempt:
- You are at the wrong pipe pair. There are several pipes scattered across the seawall area, but the correct ones are at the very last H-shaped pocket on the eastern end of the Wavebreaker.
- You are at the wrong end of the correct pipes. The interaction is on the inland section close to the wall, not near the surf line where the pipes vanish into the ocean.
Sweep slowly along the short, sand-flanked segment closest to the seawall, and the prompt will surface. Once it does, the objective updates instantly, and you can move on to the Port Authority pillar for the seawall photo and Azzurro Beach for the seaweed sample to wrap up Battening Down.
