Black Ops 7 Zombies: All Rex Infernus Side Quests

A purple rift on a Deathspinner round unlocks Operator talks with Ava and extra loot.

A purple rift on a Deathspinner round unlocks Operator talks with Ava and extra loot.

Rex Infernus keeps one side quest off the main path. A purple rift can open on a Sanctuary wall, pull your Operator into a private talk with Ava (the Entity), and drop you back outside with extra loot.

Quick answer: Play as one of the eight dedicated Operators, turn on Pack-a-Punch at the Nexus Forge, wait for a Deathspinner Max Ammo round, then use the single purple rift that appears on a wall in one Sanctuary.

Dedicated Operators for the Rex Infernus rift

The rift only answers eight dedicated Operators. Those names are Richtofen, Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, Maya, Weaver, Grey, and Carver.

Any other Operator leaves the walls quiet. Swap before the match if you want the conversation and the loot that follows it.

Purple rift trigger conditions

Load into Rex Infernus as one of the eight dedicated Operators. The rift is locked to that roster, so the rest of the setup fails if the wrong character is in play.
Activate Pack-a-Punch at the Nexus Forge. The rift will not appear while that machine is still dark.
Stay in the match until a Deathspinner round begins, the spider wave that also throws a Max Ammo. That is the only window the rift uses.
Sweep all four Sanctuaries during that Max Ammo wave. The rift sits on a wall in only one temple, and it can appear anywhere inside that building.
Interact with the purple rift. You are moved into a room with Ava, the conversation plays, and you return to the map when it ends.

Purple rift locations in each Sanctuary

Only one Sanctuary holds the rift on a given Deathspinner Max Ammo round. Treat every wall as fair game. A missed corner is enough to make the whole wave look empty.

SanctuaryWhere to look
Nyxara’s SanctuaryAny wall in the main chamber or side rooms
Veytharion’s SanctuaryCracked corridors and broken stone faces
Dravakar’s SanctuaryMasonry at any height, including crystal-like glows
Caltheris’s SanctuaryEntry, side rooms, and every reachable wall

Nyxara’s Sanctuary is a clean first pass. Walk the main chamber and the rooms off it, and watch for a glowing purple mark on stone, including the stretch beside a striped gate.

In the same temple the rift can also read as a bright breach instead of a small crystal. Face the wall at standing height and wait for the interact prompt.

If Nyxara is empty, move into Veytharion’s Sanctuary. The halls are wrecked, so slow down and scan the ruined corridors instead of sprinting the objective path.

On those cracked walls, look for a purple breach you can aim at and use. It sits in the stone, not on a pedestal.

Dravakar’s Sanctuary hides the same object on heavier masonry. The glow may sit high or low, and it can look more like a crystal set into the wall than an open tear.

Finish the lap in Caltheris’s Sanctuary. Cover the entrance, the side rooms, and every wall you can reach. If all four temples stay dark, Pack-a-Punch is still off, the Operator is wrong, or the round is not a Deathspinner Max Ammo.

Entity conversation and loot

Using the rift teleports you into a room with Ava. The talk is unique to the Operator you brought in. When the scene ends, you spawn back outside the rift.

Loot is waiting at that exit. Mystery Perks are part of the drop, and a Ray Gun can appear with them. Weaver and the rest of the eight leave the same way, standing at the sealed tear with the new items on the floor.

You know it worked when the cutscene finishes and that pile is on the ground. A silent wall with no interact prompt means the trigger never fired.

All Operator conversations with Ava

There are 16 talks in total. Each of the eight Operators has two. The lines below are the substance of those scenes, not a transcript.

OperatorDialogue
Richtofen #1Ava and Dravakar caution him against hardening into the same kind of jailer he is fighting.
Richtofen #2Ava states his origin sits in Samantha Maxis’s memory.
Dempsey #1He asks her age. Centuries in captivity have erased the number.
Dempsey #2She affirms that he and the other three persist as leftovers of Maxis’s recollection.
Nikolai #1He presses her on why the Shadowsmiths cannot put the Warden down themselves.
Nikolai #2He tests the idea of a repeating timeline. She rejects a simple time-loop label.
Takeo #1He treats the Dark Aether trip as a gift that let him face what he left behind.
Takeo #2He talks about shielding people who cannot save themselves and making cruel men pay.
Maya #1She asks for a branch of reality where her brother survived, and a way into it.
Maya #2Ava confirms the Twins are Maxis memories given form.
Weaver #1Ava praises his command.
Weaver #2She makes his coming death a condition for saving Maxis’s child.
Grey #1She is promised three years with a newborn named Ava, enough to close the wound Maxis opened.
Grey #2She is told the Warden wants a rewritten world built as his perfect union.
Carver #1Nyxara reaches Ava again by speaking through him.
Carver #2He is given five years after the Warden falls, then a final sacrifice.

Miss the window and the wall goes quiet. The next Deathspinner Max Ammo is the next chance to find the rift, hear the other half of an Operator’s talk, and collect another drop.
