Borderlands 4: How to Disable Signal Scramblers in Clear Comms

Every capacitor, route, and core you need to hit to finish the scrambler objective in Vinechoked Canopy.

The Clear Comms mission on Providence Island stalls a lot of players at the same spot. The objective marker says “Disable Signal Scramblers,” but the scramblers themselves ignore your bullets until you deal with everything wired into them first. It is a two-part job in Vinechoked Canopy, and both parts come down to shooting the right glowing box.

Quick answer: Destroy the three glowing capacitors scattered around Vinechoked Canopy to open the objective, then disable both signal scramblers — the second one only takes damage after you shoot the capacitors on the surrounding Tediore containers to expose its core.

Clear Comms requirements before you start

Clear Comms plays out entirely in Vinechoked Canopy on Providence Island, with Warrant Baggett running comms in your ear and Tediore holding the facility. If you are playing in a group, there is a hard gate on the mission. Every player in the session must own FL4K and the Lost Resort for the mission to progress, and the game will tell you so on screen. One person missing that content stops the whole squad.

Note: this objective is separate from the signal jammer puzzles elsewhere in the game, such as the DAHL machine in Unpaid Tab or the hackable jammer nodes in Overwriting A Wrong. Nothing here involves a grapple hack or a node-shooting minigame. It is all direct damage to physical targets.

The full objective order in Vinechoked Canopy

Three distinct stages sit between you and the mission’s next beat. Knowing the shape of it up front saves a lot of wandering, because the waypoints only ever point at one target at a time.

StageWhat you have to destroy
Destroy CapacitorsThree glowing capacitors spread around the Vinechoked Canopy area
First signal scramblerThe scrambler itself, reached through a barrier doorway and a vertical silo climb
Second signal scramblerCapacitors on the Tediore containers around it, then the exposed core

Destroy the three capacitors

Follow the orange diamond waypoint to the first capacitor, mounted on a wall structure. It glows, so it reads clearly even in the overgrowth. A single burst of fire from any decent weapon breaks it.

Expect Tediore forces the moment the first capacitor pops. Bladeframe and Balldroid variants push in from the walkways, and a long-range weapon helps because the arena is layered vertically. Clear enough space to move before chasing the next marker.
Find the second capacitor, which is the easiest of the three to spot. A holographic “SHOOT ME” sign hangs over it. Shoot it as soon as you have line of sight, even from across the area.
If you get dropped during the firefights here, use Fight for Your Life rather than giving up. Enemies are dense enough that a Second Wind is realistic, and the capacitor progress you have already made is kept.

Work your way to the third capacitor and destroy it. The objective text flips over to “Disable Signal Scrambler” the instant the last one goes down, which is your confirmation that this stage is finished.

Reach and disable the first signal scrambler

Open your map and get your bearings before running off. The Vinechoked Canopy layout loops back on itself, and the route to the first scrambler cuts through the facility rather than around the outside.
Head inside and watch for a doorway sealed by a glowing shield barrier. Shoot the barrier generator next to it. The shield drops and the doorway opens.
Past the doorway is a vertical silo. Climb the pipes and ladders all the way up. There is no shortcut here, and the scrambler sits at the top of that shaft.

Disable the first scrambler at the top. This one has no protective layer, so it goes down without any extra setup, and the objective counter ticks to the second scrambler.

Expose the core on the second signal scrambler

Drop back down and fight through the Tediore shipping containers on your way out. This is the heaviest pocket of resistance in the area, so reload before you commit to the run.

Follow the waypoint to a facility tunnel with a closing door. Slide under it to get through. If you miss the timing, the door reopens on its cycle, so just line up and slide again.
Deal with the wildlife on the other side. A Swift Tropical Mangler blocks the path and moves fast in close quarters, so keep backing toward the tunnel mouth while you whittle it down.
Climb up to the second scrambler platform. Do not open fire on the scrambler yet — it will not take meaningful damage in this state.
Look at the Tediore containers ringing the platform. Each one carries a glowing capacitor feeding the scrambler. Shoot every one of them, checking behind the containers so you do not leave one hidden on the far side.
With the capacitors gone, the scrambler’s core is exposed. Put sustained fire into the core to disable the second scrambler and complete the objective.

How to confirm both scramblers are down

You will know it worked in two ways. The mission tracker swaps off the scrambler objective and onto “Kill Tediore Junior Manager,” and the door into the manager’s room opens, letting you walk straight into the next fight. If the objective text has not changed, something is still standing.

There are only a few reasons this stalls. A capacitor is still intact, either one of the three in the open area or one tucked behind a container at the second scrambler. Or the scrambler core has not been exposed yet, in which case your shots are landing on armor that does nothing. In co-op, a party member who does not own FL4K and the Lost Resort will also block progress regardless of how much you shoot.

Once the path is open, the Tediore Junior Manager is waiting in the next room, and Clear Comms moves on from the comms hardware to the person running it.
