The Library is the Dracula’s Castle area guarded by Carmilla, and it packs a lot of pickups into 20 districts. Most of them sit inside Secret Areas, and three of those stay shut until Rose has a skill from the Clock Tower. A full clear means coming back once.
Quick answer: Collect 4 relics, 3 weapons, Brauner’s Paintbrush, 3 Brave and 3 Wise Heart Fragments, 9 XP statues and 4 clues, then return with Smash to open 3 thick floors.
Library collectible count
Use these totals as your checklist. The two meat pickups restore health and do nothing else, but they sit in Secret Areas you will open anyway.
| Collectible | Count | Where they cluster |
|---|---|---|
| Relics | 4 | Rhetoric Shelves (2), Curiosity Cabinet, Study Room |
| Weapons | 3 | Fine Arts Shelves, Condemned Shelves, Lisa’s Laboratory |
| Key item | 1 | Observatory |
| Brave Heart Fragments | 3 | Library Foyer, Poetry Shelves, Planetarium |
| Wise Heart Fragments | 3 | Rhetoric Shelves, Planetarium, Fine Arts Shelves |
| XP statues | 9 | Seven sub-areas |
| Clues (The Occultist) | 4 | Four sub-areas |
| Meat | 2 | Natural Philosophy Shelves, Curiosity Cabinet |

Every one of the 26 Secret Areas falls into one of three types. Nothing else in the Library gates a hidden room, so if a wall or floor does not match one of these, it is not a secret.
- Hidden passage (16): no switch or crack; you walk through a section of wall. Watch and listen for visual and audio hints.
- Breakable wall (7): a cracked section that gives way after a few weapon hits.
- Thick Smash floor (3): only breaks under a Smash launched from a long fall.
Smash comes from the Clock Tower’s Final Trap district. The move scales with fall distance, so a short hop will not crack a thick floor. Jump or drop from high up, then press Down + Jump (Down + Cross on PlayStation, S + Space on PC).
The three thick floors are in Curiosity Cabinet (Revenant’s Shard and a piece of meat), Rhetoric Shelves (a Wise Heart Fragment) and a second spot in Rhetoric Shelves that holds nothing.

Library relic locations
All four relics sit in chests or on tables inside Secret Areas. Rhetoric Shelves holds two of them, and both are reachable without Smash.
| Relic | Sub-area | How to reach it |
|---|---|---|
| Rhetoric Shelves | Breakable wall; on a table inside | |
| Rhetoric Shelves | Hidden passage; grapple rings to a balcony chest | |
| Curiosity Cabinet | Thick Smash floor; chest in the lower corridor | |
| Study Room | Hidden passage; chest in the bottom-left corner |
Lich’s Mark
Rewards rapid casting. Fire a second spell within 1.5 seconds of the first and it costs 40% less mana.

Midnight Tear
Rose takes less damage the lower her mana gets, scaling to 50% less damage when her mana is empty. The chest is at the end of a spiked corridor past the whip rings.

Revenant’s Shard
Every kill gives Rose 10% extra mana. Curiosity Cabinet also has guards and beasts around the chest, so clear the corridor before opening it.

Wraith’s Tear
When Rose attacks a foe after it has damaged her, she regains 7% of her maximum health. Each foe can activate this once; another blow from that foe makes the effect available again. In Study Room, grapple your way up the spiked shaft to reach the chest.

Library weapon locations and stats
Three weapons are in the Library, each in an ornate chest. Two are behind hidden passages, and Durandal sits in an open room.
| Weapon | Type | Rarity / tier | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sword and shield | Refined / 2 | Condemned Shelves | |
| Whip | Refined / 2 | Fine Arts Shelves | |
| Two-handed sword | Masterpiece / 3 | Lisa’s Laboratory |
| Weapon | ATK / attack power | Mana per hit / stagger | Combo finisher |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 / 25 | 4 / 30 | Shield bash | |
| 50 / 30 | 3 / 30 | Whip Drag | |
| 75 / 36 | 5 / 30 | Blade Dive |
Fleuret and Tower Shield stops attacks from the front as long as you hold Attack. Its chest sits in an elevated alcove over the astrological dial in Condemned Shelves, accessible by breaking walls and using grapple points.
Thorn Whip hits hardest at the far tip of its reach. The chest is on the upper-left balcony of Fine Arts Shelves, past spikes and swinging rings.

Durandal charges a heavier strike when you hold Attack and release it. Go through the upper part of Curiosity Cabinet into Lisa’s Laboratory, and the gold chest is on the lower floor.
Brave Heart and Wise Heart Fragment locations
The Library holds three of each fragment type. Brave Heart Fragments raise max health: four fragments make one upgrade worth +20 max health. With all 24 placed across eight areas, you get six upgrades and 220 max health.
| Fragment | Sub-area | How to reach it |
|---|---|---|
| Brave Heart | Library Foyer | Upper passage, behind thorns you cut down |
| Brave Heart | Poetry Shelves | Hidden passage; altar past spike ledges |
| Brave Heart | Planetarium | Isolated upper ledge |
| Wise Heart | Rhetoric Shelves | Thick Smash floor |
| Wise Heart | Planetarium | Upper alcove |
| Wise Heart | Fine Arts Shelves | Hidden passage off the elevator shaft; wall shrine |
The Library Foyer fragment is a climb up the right side of the room to the upper passage.

Poetry Shelves asks for more precise platforming over spike-lined ledges before the altar.

The Rhetoric Shelves Wise Heart Fragment is under one of the thick floors, so it waits until you have Smash and can drop from height.

XP statue and meat locations
Library XP statues are gold, take several hits to break and give 300 experience each, or 2,700 for all nine.
| Sub-area | XP statues | Meat | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Library Foyer | 1 | 0 | Upper ledge, in a Secret Area |
| Poetry Shelves | 1 | 0 | Left side of the room |
| Astronomer’s Office | 1 | 0 | High balcony; turn the astrological rings |
| Exhibition Room | 1 | 0 | On top of the bookshelves, in a Secret Area |
| Trophy Room | 1 | 0 | Far right |
| Study Room | 2 | 0 | One in the lower section past the rings |
| Natural Philosophy Shelves | 2 | 1 | All in Secret Areas; one on a high balcony |
| Curiosity Cabinet | 0 | 1 | Meat is under the thick Smash floor |

The Occultist clue locations
Four clues in the Library point toward The Occultist. Each one triggers a “New clue about The Occultist” notice when read.

| Clue | Sub-area | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Star Chart | Astronomer’s Office | Read the document on the desk |
| Magical Brush | Observation Tower | Talk to the Statue |
| Organic Astrology | Drawing Room | Read it at the altar |
| Blood Poem | Natural Philosophy Shelves | Desk next to the high-balcony statue, in a hidden-passage Secret Area |
Carmilla, Brauner’s Paintbrush and Library travel points
Carmilla is the Library’s boss, fought in the Observatory. Beating her absorbs The Occultist Arcana and its Blood Spikes spell, which impales nearby enemies with spikes of blood for low damage and makes them bleed. The closest Mirror of Life is in Rhetoric Shelves.

Brauner’s Paintbrush is in the Observatory after the fight. It is a brush that belongs to Brauner but that Carmilla took. Speak with Carmilla at the blood-soaked shrine (“What else would you use to paint the moon with blood?”), then take the brush from the desk on the left platform with Interact (R1 on PlayStation, E on PC).
| Point | Sub-area | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror of Life | Rhetoric Shelves | Save, heal, refill potions |
| Mirror of Life | Exhibition Room | Save, heal, refill potions |
| Ferryman’s Wharf | Bridge of Knowledge | Boat to other areas |
| Elevator | Observation Tower | One elevator, two stops |
| Observation Tower | Movement skill |
Both Mirrors of Life count toward completion when activated. Ferryman’s Wharf is down through a glowing archway, and Bridge of Knowledge has no other pickups.

Library area record: completion items, enemies and districts
The Library tracks 139 completion items. Exploration zones make up most of that, so walking every room matters as much as opening chests.
| Completion part | Count |
|---|---|
| Exploration zones | 105 |
| Items | 13 |
| XP statues | 9 |
| Wise Heart Fragments | 3 |
| Brave Heart Fragments | 3 |
| Area exits | 2 |
| Background doors | 2 |
| Arcana absorbed | 1 |
| Ferryman’s Wharf | 1 |
- Candles: 176
- Chests with items: 8
- Mirrors of Life: 2
- Enemies: Boomerang Skeleton, Ectoplasm, Flea Man, Flying Skull, Red Skeleton, Shield Armor, Skeleton Archer, Spear Guard, Werewolf
The 20 districts are Astronomer’s Office, Bridge of Knowledge, Condemned Shelves, Curiosity Cabinet, Drawing Room, Exhibition Room, Fine Arts Shelves, Forgotten Bridge, Lecture Room, Library Entrance, Library Foyer, Lisa’s Laboratory, Natural Philosophy Shelves, Observation Tower, Observatory, Planetarium, Poetry Shelves, Rhetoric Shelves, Study Room and Trophy Room. Lecture Room’s single Secret Area, a breakable wall, holds nothing, as does the breakable-wall room in Planetarium.
How to confirm Library 100%
The area banner shows a running percentage that ticks up with each item, statue, mirror and new zone, and a “Map updated” notice appears when a Mirror of Life fills in more of the map. Fragment pickups show a counter out of four, and the fourth triggers “Brave Heart Completed!” or “Wise Heart Completed!” When the Library reads 100%, every one of the 139 completion items is done, including the three Smash-floor rooms you returned for after the Clock Tower.
