Closing apps is now a lot easier on an iPhone with the iOS 12 update. From a series of actions like touch & hold, then tap on the red dot to close an app on the iPhone X, iOS 12 now lets you close apps by simply swiping it up in the air.

Swipe up to close apps has been an iOS feature for long, but Apple changed that in the iPhone X. Luckily for us, it is coming back in iOS 12 for all iOS devices, including the X, XS, XS Max, and the XR.

How to close apps on iOS 12

  1. Open App Switcher.
    • On iPhone 8 and earlier models: Press the Home Button twice.
    • On iPhone X: Swipe up from the bottom to middle of the screen and hold.
  2. Bring the app you wish to close in focus.
  3. Swipe up on the app to close it.

Easy, right?
